ELLEN RIPLEY
Lt. First Class Ellen Louise Ripley is the iconic protagonist of the Alien franchise, portrayed by Sigourney Weaver. Originally serving as Warrant Officer aboard the commercial freighter USCSS Nostromo, she becomes the premier survivor and fighter against the deadly Xenomorph species. Her battle for survival spans centuries, from commercial spaceflights and military operations to her ultimate sacrifice on Fiorina 161 and subsequent cloning as a human-alien hybrid.
Cronologia
Biografia
Ellen Louise Ripley is a commercial astronaut and warrant officer who becomes humanity's primary defender against the parasitic Xenomorph species. Born on Earth's moon in 2092, she began her career co-piloting merchant vessels before taking a third-in-command position aboard the commercial towing vessel USCSS Nostromo.
In 2122, her life changed forever when the Nostromo responded to a signal on LV-426, leading to a fatal alien infestation that left Ripley as the vessel's sole human survivor alongside the ship's cat, Jonesy.
After floating in hypersleep for 57 years, Ripley was rescued in 2179 and reluctantly agreed to advise a team of United States Colonial Marines investigating the lost colony on LV-426. There, she rescued young survivor Rebecca 'Newt' Jorden and defeated a Xenomorph Queen. Following a crash-landing on the prison planet Fiorina 161, Ripley discovered she was impregnated with a Queen embryo and sacrificed herself in a furnace to prevent Weyland-Yutani from harvesting the creature. Two centuries later in 2381, she was brought back through cloning as Ripley 8 aboard the USM Auriga.
Storia
Ellen Ripley was born on January 7, 2092, at the Olympia colony on Luna. When she was two years old, an outbreak of the XMB Virus forced the moon into a sixteen-year quarantine, during which she lived in a lunar facility until testing negative.
She earned a Masters in engineering from New York Aeronautics University and joined the US Merchant Navy as co-pilot aboard the Zelazny.
During her merchant service, she married her first husband, Alex, and gave birth to her daughter Amanda Ripley—choosing to forego pain-dulling drugs out of fear of complications from extended cryo-travel. After her husband left when Amanda was three, Ripley later remarried Paul Carter, though their relationship was equally turbulent. By the 2120s, living in El Salvador, Ripley attempted to renegotiate her Weyland-Yutani contract to spend more time with her daughter. She agreed to serve one last voyage aboard the USCSS Nostromo to Thedus before taking her leave, unaware of the corporate trap awaiting her crew.

Evoluzione
Ellen Ripley undergoes one of the most celebrated character evolutions in science fiction history. Initially introduced in Alien as a pragmatic, strict officer bound by corporate quarantine protocols, she is forced into survival mode when corporate authority collapses around her. Through intellect, caution, and adaptability, she becomes the sole survivor of the Nostromo.
By Aliens, after spending 57 years adrift in stasis and losing her original life, her trauma is transformed into maternal protective fury as she steps into the role of a military leader to rescue Newt and battle the Xenomorph Queen. In Alien 3, stripped of her allies and carrying a Xenomorph Queen inside her own chest, Ripley's arc takes a tragic and heroic turn, culminating in a sacrificial jump into a furnace to defeat Weyland-Yutani's corporate greed. Ultimately, in Alien Resurrection, her resurrection as the cloned human-alien hybrid Ripley 8 completes her evolution: she becomes a creature possessing acidic blood and heightened physical abilities, bridging the gap between human empathy and alien predator.

In Alien Resurrection, cloning experiments resulted in Ripley 8 possessing acidic blood and superhuman physical traits.
