ELECTRO

Electro is one of Marvel Comics' most iconic and enduring supervillains, created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in The Amazing Spider-Man #9 (1964). Originally electrical lineman Maxwell Dillon, and later succeeded by Francine Frye, Electro possesses the ability to generate, store, and manipulate vast amounts of bio-electrical energy. As a founding member of the Sinister Six, he remains one of Spider-Man and Daredevil's most relentless adversaries across comic books, animated series, video games, and feature films.

Biografia

Maxwell "Max" Dillon was an ordinary electrical lineman who gained extraordinary electrokinetic powers during a freak accident on a power line. Transformed into a living capacitor, Dillon adopted the supervillain persona Electro, driven primarily by an intense greed for money, power, and respect.

He quickly established himself as a prominent criminal force in New York City, clashing repeatedly with Spider-Man and Daredevil. Throughout his criminal career, Electro has been a central figure in supervillain team-ups. He was a founding member of Doctor Octopus's Sinister Six and organized the Emissaries of Evil specifically to fight Daredevil.

His destructive actions triggered the notorious supervillain breakout at The Raft containment facility, an event that inadvertently forced the founding of the New Avengers. In recent years, the Electro identity expanded beyond Dillon. Supervillain fan Francine Frye accidentally killed Dillon by absorbing his bio-electricity, becoming Electro II. Following Dillon's resurrection by Doctor Octopus, both Electros now exist in the Marvel Universe, transitioning from bitter rivals competing over who could kill a Spider-Man into criminal partners.

LO SAPEVI?Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson originally accused Spider-Man and Electro of being the exact same person.

Storia

Born in Endicott, New York, Max Dillon grew up in an unstable home. His father abandoned the family during Max's childhood, leading his mother Anita to become overprotective.

When Max graduated high school and expressed a desire to study electrical engineering at university, his mother lied about him being rejected, pushing him instead to take a steady job as a lineman for the local electric company.

After his mother passed away and his wife Norma left him for an engineer with higher income, Dillon became bitter and obsessed with financial success. His life changed permanently at age 24 while attempting to save a co-worker stranded on an electrical pole during a lightning storm. A lightning strike struck Dillon while he was in contact with live, high-tension wires connected to a cable spool. The unique magnetic field generated by the wound spool induced a body-wide mutagenic change in his nervous system, turning his body into a living electrical capacitor powered by rhythmic muscle contractions.

LO SAPEVI?Spider-Man defeated Electro in their very first battle simply by wearing rubber gloves and rubber boots.

Evoluzione

Electro's character trajectory has evolved significantly from a classic 1960s street-level thief into an unstable, apocalyptic energy force. Debuting in 1964 with his iconic star-burst face mask and green-and-yellow costume, Max Dillon was initially limited by energy instability, requiring stolen Stark tech or upgrades from The Rose to maintain his powers. As he aged in the comics, his energy mutated, making his discharges unpredictable and forcing him to seek aid from the Mad Thinker before losing control during "The Gauntlet" arc. A major structural shift occurred in 2016 during *Dead No More: The Clone Conspiracy*, when supervillain enthusiast Francine Frye killed Dillon by absorbing his powers, taking over the Electro mantle as a modern female counterpart.

Upon Dillon's resurrection, Marvel introduced a dual-Electro dynamic where both Dillon and Frye operate simultaneously—evolving from lethal competitors into coordinated partners. Electro's visual representation has also undergone marked shifts across screen media. While early animated series preserved his classic comic book costume, 21st-century adaptations—such as *Ultimate Spider-Man*, *The Spectacular Spider-Man*, and Jamie Foxx's live-action portrayal in *The Amazing Spider-Man 2*—reimagined him as a blue, glowing energy construct. His MCU appearance in *Spider-Man: No Way Home* synthesized these styles by restoring his human form while generating yellow electrical sparks that visually mimic his classic star mask, leading up to his 1930s period adaptation in *Spider-Noir*.

LO SAPEVI?Electro founded the Emissaries of Evil in 1965, creating the first supervillain team formed specifically to battle Daredevil.

Da Collezione

Electro holds a distinct place in Marvel action figure and statue collecting, represented across both classic comic iterations and modern live-action adaptations.

Figures generally focus on his signature 1964 green-and-yellow suit with the iconic star-shaped headpiece, as well as translucent blue variants inspired by his animated and cinematic appearances. In addition to physical action figures and LEGO minifigures from the *Lego Marvel Super Heroes* franchise, Electro is widely featured in digital collectibles such as *Marvel Snap* trading cards, making him a mainstay across physical toy lines and digital collectible media.

LO SAPEVI?In the 1990s *Spider-Man: The Animated Series*, Electro was non-canonically adapted as Rheinholdt Kragov, the son of the Red Skull.
