DR. FATE
Doctor Fate is one of DC Comics' premier magical superheroes, serving as the champion for the Lords of Order in their cosmic conflict against the Lords of Chaos. Created by Gardner Fox and Howard Sherman, the mantle is powered by ancient artifacts including the Helmet of Nabu, the Amulet of Anubis, and the Cloak of Destiny. First wielded by archaeologist Kent Nelson in 1940, the title has been passed down across generations to preserve cosmic balance against supernatural threats.
Cronologia
Biografia

Doctor Fate acts as an agent and Earth-bound representative of the Lords of Order, ancient cosmic entities locked in an eternal war against the Lords of Chaos. Operating out of the mysterious Tower of Fate in Salem, Massachusetts, Doctor Fate protects the universe from dark sorcery, extradimensional entities, and world-ending threats.
The superhero mantle is tied directly to powerful ancient artifacts, primarily the Helmet of Fate (or Helmet of Nabu), which contains the consciousness of the immortal Lord of Order, Nabu the Wise. While wearing the helmet, the host gains superhuman strength, flight, invulnerability, and vast magical power.
Doctor Fate was a founding member of the Justice Society of America (JSA) and has served alongside the Justice League and Justice League Dark. Although archaeologist Kent Nelson was the original Doctor Fate, several distinct individuals have assumed the mantle throughout DC Comics history. Notable mantle holders include Eric and Linda Strauss, Inza Cramer Nelson, Jared Stevens, Hector Hall, Kent V. Nelson, Khalid Ben-Hassin, and Khalid Nassour.
Storia

The origin of Doctor Fate begins around 1920 when young Kent Nelson accompanied his father, archaeologist Sven Nelson, on an expedition in the Valley of Ur in Mesopotamia.
Inside an underground pyramid, Kent unlocked a chamber containing Nabu, an ancient Lord of Order from the planet Cilia who had been held in suspended animation. Unlocking the chamber accidentally unleashed a deadly gas that killed Kent's father.
Nabu engineered this tragic situation to secure a new human host, subsequently removing Kent's grief and accelerating his physical aging by fifteen years. Nabu trained Kent in total molecular control and the secrets of the universe before bestowing upon him the Helmet, Cloak, and Amulet to become Doctor Fate, humanity's champion against chaos.

Evoluzione
Doctor Fate's publication history spans over eight decades, evolving through multiple mantle holders and shifting magical philosophies. Debuting in 1940's More Fun Comics #55 by Gardner Fox and Howard Sherman, Kent Nelson originally possessed energy-conversion powers before establishing his mystic lore. To maintain independence from Nabu's possessive control, Kent adopted a half-helmet in late 1941, operating with reduced magic until regaining the full helmet in later years. In 1987, writers J.M. DeMatteis and Keith Giffen redefined Doctor Fate by passing the mantle to ten-year-old Eric Strauss and his stepmother Linda, who merged into a single entity to show that Fate required a duality of human bond.
Following their deaths, Inza Cramer Nelson took over the mantle in 1991, casting magic sourced from humanity's collective strength rather than cosmic order. The 1990s introduced a radical shift when mercenary Jared Stevens melted the helmet into throwing daggers as the anti-hero 'Fate', before Hector Hall restored the traditional hero role in Geoff Johns' JSA run. Modern DC continuity introduced new generations, including physician Kent V. Nelson, Earth-2's Khalid Ben-Hassin, and current primary Doctor Fate Khalid Nassour. Created in 2015 by Paul Levitz and Sonny Liew, Khalid Nassour—an Egyptian-American medical student—combines Egyptian mythology with modern magic, operating alongside original mentor Kent Nelson in Justice League Dark and DC's mainstream continuity.

Doctor Fate's original powers in 1940 were described as the conversion of energy into matter and matter into energy.
