DOCTOR OCTOPUS
Doctor Otto Octavius, better known as Doctor Octopus (or Doc Ock), is one of Spider-Man's oldest and most iconic archenemies. Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1963, he is a brilliant nuclear physicist equipped with four mentally controlled mechanical tentacles fused to his body.
Cronologia
Biografia

Dr. Otto Octavius is a world-renowned nuclear physicist, atomic researcher, and expert inventor whose scientific brilliance is rivaled only by his tragic turn to criminal megalomania.
Initially driven by a vision to harness revolutionary energy sources for humanity—such as deuterium-tritium fusion reactors—his life was fundamentally reshaped by catastrophic laboratory accidents.
Throughout his history across comics, television, film, and gaming, Doctor Octopus has served as a master planner, founder of supervillain teams like the Sinister Six, and a personal foil to Peter Parker. Depending on the universe, his motivations range from tragic corruption by artificial intelligence or neurological illness to pure megalomaniacal ambition. Despite his criminal legacy, Octavius possesses a complex sense of honor and responsibility. In moments of clarity, he has proven capable of profound self-sacrifice and anti-heroic acts, even briefly taking over Peter Parker's mantle as the Superior Spider-Man to prove he could protect the city.
Storia

In his original 1963 comic introduction by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Otto Octavius created a harness of four mechanical, mentally controlled arms to handle volatile nuclear materials safely.
A freak radiation explosion in his laboratory permanently fused the apparatus to his body and damaged his mind, turning the brilliant scientist into the villainous Doctor Octopus. In the cinematic Earth-96283 continuity (Spider-Man 2), Otto was a respected scientist funded by Oscorp who built a fusion protostar machine alongside his wife Rosie.
During a public demonstration, the fusion reaction spiraled out of control, killing Rosie, fusing the mechanical tentacles to Otto's spine, and destroying the neural inhibitor chip designed to protect his cerebral cortex from the arms' artificial intelligence. Driven mad by the tentacles' corrupting influence, he set out to rebuild his hazardous machine at any cost until Peter Parker helped him regain control, leading Otto to drown his reactor in the river in a final act of self-sacrifice.

Evoluzione
Doctor Octopus began in 1963 as a classic megalomaniacal comic book villain who led criminal masterplans and founded the Sinister Six. Over the decades, writers expanded his depth through storylines like 'The Master Planner,' framing him as a tragic figure driven by intellect and Hubris. Sam Raimi's 2004 film *Spider-Man 2* redefined the character's mainstream image by introducing a noble mentor whose mind is corrupted by artificial intelligence.
This tragic mentor dynamic became a major template for future adaptations, most notably Insomniac Games' 2018 *Marvel's Spider-Man*, where a degenerative neurological condition accelerates his downfall. In 2012, comic writer Dan Slott radically transformed Octavius in *The Superior Spider-Man*, swapping his consciousness into Peter Parker's body. Operating as a ruthless hero, Otto sought to prove himself superior to Peter, executing an anti-heroic redemption arc that fundamentally transformed Doc Ock into a multi-dimensional protagonist/antagonist in modern Marvel lore.

In 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man #700, Doctor Octopus successfully killed Peter Parker's body by swapping minds with him to become the Superior Spider-Man.
