DK-3 BREAKER
DK-3 Breaker is an Autobot character from the Transformers franchise based on the blue 1982 Japanese Diaclone 4WD Hi-luxe toy, which was sold in 1983 as 'DK-3' under Takara's Diakron line. Initially serving as the visual inspiration for Shattered Glass Trailbreaker, Breaker was formally introduced as an independent Autobot warrior in IDW Publishing's 2019 comic continuity and received a dedicated figure in Hasbro's 2022 Generations Selects toyline.
Cronologia
Biografia
DK-3 Breaker is an Autobot soldier in the Transformers universe. In IDW Publishing's 2019 reboot comic continuity, Breaker is established as an independent Cybertronian warrior separate from Trailbreaker.
He served during the War of the Threefold Spark, where he ultimately fell in battle. Following his death, his name was inscribed at the Memorial Crater, where Cyclonus later recited Breaker's name among the fallen to Sixshot.
In the alternate Shattered Glass universe (Fun Publications continuity), an evil Autobot version of Trailbreaker utilizes the blue DK-3 color scheme. Following a major defeat on Earth by the Decepticons, this version boarded Sky Lynx to return to Cybertron and silently gave a thumbs-up approval when Rodimus jettisoned Optimus Prime out of an airlock to lighten their load and take command.
Storia
The origins of DK-3 Breaker trace back to 1982, when Takara released the Car Robot No. 5 '4WD Hi-luxe' figure in Japan as part of the Diaclone toyline in black, blue, and yellow variants.
In 1983, Takara briefly exported select Diaclone toys to North American markets as a Toys "R" Us test line called Diakron, where the blue 4WD Hi-luxe was designated 'DK-3'.
When Hasbro licensed the molds in 1984 to launch Transformers Generation 1, they selected the black variant for the Autobot Trailbreaker, leaving the blue deco unassigned in early main continuity. Decades later, the blue DK-3 deco inspired the visual design of Shattered Glass Trailbreaker before Hasbro and IDW Publishing canonized DK-3 Breaker as a distinct character in modern lore.

Evoluzione
DK-3 Breaker originated as an unassigned pre-Transformers color variant—the blue 1982 Diaclone 4WD Hi-luxe sold in 1983 as Diakron 'DK-3'.
Although passed over in 1984 in favor of the black Trailbreaker release, the blue color scheme was repurposed by Fun Publications for Shattered Glass Trailbreaker, using the Thrilling 30 Deluxe Class Trailcutter toy mold as a visual template. The concept evolved into a unique standalone character when IDW Publishing's 2019 comic reboot canonized Breaker as an individual Autobot soldier who died in the War of the Threefold Spark. In 2022, Hasbro fully formalized the character by releasing the Deluxe Class DK-3 Breaker figure in the Generations Selects line.
Da Collezione
For Transformers collectors, DK-3 Breaker represents an essential piece in Hasbro's series of Diaclone and Diakron homage figures. The character's primary collectible figure is the Transformers: Legacy / Generations Selects Deluxe Class DK-3 Breaker, revealed at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2022 and released in October 2022.
The figure is a blue retool/redeco of Earthrise Trailbreaker (itself a retool of Earthrise Hoist), transforming into a 1980s Toyota camper truck in 19 steps. In late 2023, surplus stock hit discount closeout retailers like Ross, making it a sought-after pickup for collectors completing their retro homage display alongside figures such as DK-2 Guard, Spin-Out, Lift-Ticket, and MP-56+ Riggorus.

DK-3 Breaker's name and blue color scheme originate from a 1983 pre-Transformers Toys 'R' Us exclusive toyline called Diakron.
