Biografia
Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon, known variously as Ciri, the Lion Cub of Cintra, Falka, and the Lady of Time and Space, is a central protagonist of The Witcher universe created by Andrzej Sapkowski. The daughter of Princess Pavetta and Duny (later revealed as Emperor Emhyr var Emreis of Nilfgaard), Ciri was raised by her grandmother, Queen Calanthe, following the early death of her parents.
Linked to Geralt of Rivia through the Law of Surprise prior to her birth, she becomes his adoptive daughter and a Witcher-in-training following the tragic fall of her homeland. Ciri's immense importance stems from her Elder Blood (Hen Ichaer), an ancient genetic lineage conferring extraordinary magical abilities, including interdimensional travel and control over space and time.
Because of this, she is relentlessly hunted across the Continent and parallel worlds by political forces, sorcerers, bounty hunters like Leo Bonhart, and the elven King Eredin of the Wild Hunt. Her journey sees her transition from a protected royal heir to a survivalist trained at the Witcher fortress of Kaer Morhen, a fugitive member of the outlaw gang The Rats under the pseudonym Falka, and ultimately a formidable hero. Beyond the book saga, Ciri serves as a playable co-protagonist in CD Projekt Red's video game adaptation and the central figure of the live-action Netflix series.
Storia
Shortly after Ciri's birth in Cintra to Pavetta and Duny, her parents learned that Ithlinne's Prophecy directly referred to their daughter. Fearing for her safety, Duny attempted to spirit the family away on a ship, but the attempt ended tragically in the apparent deaths of both parents.
Ciri was subsequently raised in the royal palace of Cintra by her formidable grandmother, Queen Calanthe, alongside King Eist. At thirteen years old, Ciri's life changed forever during the Massacre of Cintra when the Nilfgaardian Empire invaded.
As the keep fell, Queen Calanthe commanded Ciri to flee and find Geralt of Rivia, her destiny. Escaping the burning city while hunted by the Nilfgaardian officer Cahir, Ciri spent weeks wandering the wilderness. She survived with the help of a young elf named Dara, took refuge in Brokilon Forest with Queen Eithné, and narrowly escaped an imposter doppler before finally reuniting with her destined protector, Geralt.

Evoluzione
Ciri's progression across The Witcher saga represents a transition from a pampered royal princess to a hardened warrior and realm-crossing hero. Raised in luxury in Cintra under Queen Calanthe's protective eye, Ciri was initially blissfully unaware of the immense power tied to her genetic heritage. The sudden invasion of Cintra shattered her childhood, throwing her into immediate survival mode across barren wildernesses. Her martial and mental development took off at Kaer Morhen, where she was trained in Witcher swordplay and educated in magic by Yennefer and Triss.
However, trauma tested her character following the Thanedd Coup: stranded in the harsh Korath desert, she gave up her magic to save a unicorn and joined a violent outlaw gang named The Rats, taking on the bandit alias Falka. Subsequent capture and brutal torment by Leo Bonhart forged her into a ruthless fighter who eventually slew her tormentor. In interactive media, Ciri steps fully into her legendary role as the Lady of Time and Space. In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, she learns to fully control her dimension-jumping capabilities to battle the White Frost and Eredin's Wild Hunt. Her evolution reaches its high point as CD Projekt Red confirmed her role as the lead playable protagonist of the franchise's next major video game saga.

In CD Projekt Red's upcoming video game The Witcher 4 (Project Polaris), Ciri takes over as the main playable protagonist of the new saga.
