CHOPPER
Chopper is a name shared by two distinct characters in Star Wars lore: the iconic C1-10P astromech droid of the Ghost crew and a unique Phase I clone trooper from the Clone Wars. C1-10P is an irritable yet loyal mechanic who played a vital role in the Rebel Alliance and New Republic, while clone trooper Chopper served under Sergeant Slick on Christophsis, infamous for collecting battle droid fingers as trophies.
Cronologia
Biografia

In Star Wars lore, 'Chopper' primarily refers to C1-10P, an eccentric C1-series astromech droid who served as the chief mechanic and navigational support for the Ghost crew. Rebuilt from spare parts after his Y-wing crashed during the Clone Wars, C1-10P was notorious for his quick temper, sarcastic demeanor, stubborn streak, and violent survival instincts.
Despite his cranky personality, Chopper was immensely loyal to Hera Syndulla, Kanan Jarrus, Ezra Bridger, Sabine Wren, and Garazeb 'Zeb' Orrelios, repeatedly saving his crewmates through audacious tactics and an extraordinarily high in-universe enemy kill count.
During the Age of the Empire, he joined Phoenix Squadron and helped lay the groundwork for the Rebel Alliance, later continuing his service into the New Republic era alongside General Hera Syndulla and helping raise her son, Jacen Syndulla. Additionally, 'Chopper' was the nickname of a human male clone trooper cloned on Kamino from Jango Fett during the Clone Wars. Serving in the Grand Army of the Republic on Christophsis in 22 BBY, this Phase I trooper was distinguished by a pale yellow right eye from combat injuries and an unusual habit of taking B1 battle droid fingers as battlefield trophies to fashion into a necklace. Though questioned during an investigation into a Separatist traitor, Chopper's aggressive defense helped uncover Clone Sergeant Slick as the true spy, proving Chopper's innocence and loyalty to the Galactic Republic.
Storia

C1-10P began his operational life during the Clone Wars as a navigational astromech aboard a Galactic Republic Y-wing starfighter. During the intense Ryloth campaign, his ship was shot down over the planet's surface.
Left damaged amidst the wreckage, he was rescued, repaired, and reassembled out of mismatched spare parts by a young Twi'lek girl named Hera Syndulla. This rescue established an enduring bond between Hera and Chopper, leading him to become the resident technician aboard her VCX-100 light freighter, the Ghost.
Conversely, the clone trooper Chopper was created on Kamino using the genetic template of bounty hunter Jango Fett. Implanted with an inhibitor chip to enforce military obedience, he received military training before deploying to Christophsis under Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi and Clone Commander Cody. Fueled by deep contempt for Separatist battle droids, he began secretly harvesting droid wreckage on the battlefield, assembling a necklace of B1 fingers while keeping his unauthorized actions hidden from Republic officers.
I PEZZI DI CHOPPER
Evoluzione
The concept of Chopper evolved significantly across both production history and in-universe lore. Clone trooper Chopper was created for 'The Hidden Enemy' (2009) as an eccentric character designed by Darren Marshall to show that clone troopers possessed distinct, non-regimented personalities. Supervising director Dave Filoni highlighted Chopper's bizarre habit of collecting battle droid fingers to introduce suspicion during a spy investigation.
A deleted scene originally depicted him forming a bond with a sabotage droid called 'The Beast', though this was cut to maintain focus on the clone-versus-droid conflict. In contrast, C1-10P (Chopper) evolved from Ralph McQuarrie's early R2-D2 concept sketches into a central figure of modern Star Wars animation and live-action. Voiced by Dave Filoni, C1-10P transitioned from a shot-down Clone Wars Y-wing astromech to a core hero in Star Wars Rebels. His jump to live-action in Rogue One and Ahsoka required physical animatronic props operated by puppeteers such as Matt Martin. Over time, C1-10P matured from a chaotic mechanic into a veteran hero who helped raise Hera Syndulla's son, Jacen, while serving the New Republic.
Da Collezione
Chopper figures are highly sought after by Star Wars collectors across multiple toy lines. Hasbro has produced notable versions of C1-10P, including live-action-inspired releases in The Vintage Collection, The Retro Collection, and interactive Droidables lines.
Collectors value these figures for accurately replicating his mismatched spare parts, distinct C1-series dome, and grumpy personality traits. His live-action appearances in Rogue One and Ahsoka elevated Chopper's profile among mainstream collectors, expanding his footprint from animated action figure lines into premium black-series and interactive droid variants. Whether seeking vintage-carded variants or remote-controlled droids, Chopper remains an essential item for Rebels enthusiasts and astromech collectors.

In production concept art created by Darren Marshall, clone trooper Chopper was drawn with large scars across the right side of his bald head and a grey right eye.
