Cronologia
Biografia
Christopher Pike was one of the most decorated starship captains in 23rd-century Federation Starfleet history. After serving aboard vessels such as the USS Antares, USS Chatelet, and USS Arybhatta, he was assigned to the USS Enterprise during the 2240s as first officer under Captain Robert April. In 2250, Pike assumed full command of the flagship USS Enterprise, selecting Una Chin-Riley as his first officer.
Over his career, he accumulated prestigious accolades including the Crest of Valor, the Scientific Legion of Honor, and the Carrington Award. Pike's tenure as captain was marked by historic deep-space exploratory missions as well as tragic encounters, including heavy losses on Rigel VII and his capture by telepathic aliens on Talos IV.
In 2257, Pike temporarily assumed command of the USS Discovery to investigate the 'Red Angel' phenomenon and combat the rogue sentient AI known as Control before returning to command the Enterprise on its five-year exploratory mission. Despite receiving a vivid premonition on Boreth of a catastrophic future radiation accident that would leave him severely disfigured and paralyzed, Pike refused to abandon his principles. Around 2266, while inspecting a training vessel, Pike heroically rescued several cadets from a fatal delta-ray radiation leak, suffering severe bodily injury that left him dependent on a specialized motorized wheelchair.
Storia
Born in 2205 in Mojave, California on Earth, Christopher Pike spent part of his childhood living on the planet Elysium, where his father taught science and comparative religion. During his youth in Mojave, Pike was diagnosed with asthma and suffered from space sickness.
He developed a passion for riding horses—owning a childhood pony named Sir-Neighs-a-Lot and later horses named Tango and Mary Lou—and enjoyed Edgar Rice Burroughs's novel A Princess of Mars.
After being persuaded by Alexander Marcus to join Starfleet, Pike attended Starfleet Academy prior to 2224, graduating in class 3201.14. Though he earned top marks in almost all of his coursework, he received an 'F' in Astrophysics. Upon graduation, Pike was commissioned as a test pilot. In his early career as an ensign in security, an awkward pursuit of a pants-less Nausicaan convinced his commanding lieutenant that his future lay outside security, setting Pike on the path toward starship command.

Evoluzione
Captain Christopher Pike's role within the Star Trek franchise has undergone significant development over six decades. Initially created by Gene Roddenberry for the 1964 pilot 'The Cage' (played by Jeffrey Hunter), Pike was rejected by NBC for being 'too cerebral.' He was subsequently recontextualized in 'The Menagerie' (1966) as a tragic framing device—a mute, disfigured former Fleet Captain confined to a motorized wheelchair after exposure to delta-ray radiation (played by Sean Kenney).
In the 2009 and 2013 Kelvin Timeline feature films, Bruce Greenwood portrayed Pike as a father figure and steady mentor who persuaded a reckless James T. Kirk to enlist in Starfleet. The character reached complete prime-timeline expansion in Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, portrayed by Anson Mount. This contemporary incarnation transformed Pike into an approachable, culinary-minded, and empathetic commander who knowingly accepts his impending tragic fate on Boreth while continuing to lead Starfleet's flagship with optimism and courage.

Pike had a childhood pony named Sir-Neighs-a-Lot who broke its leg in a rainstorm and had to be euthanized, causing Pike to cry for a week.
