Cronologia
Biografia

Terence 'Terry' McGinnis is a former teenage delinquent living in the futuristic, cyberpunk metropolis of Neo-Gotham who assumes the mantle of Batman under the tutelage of an elderly, retired Bruce Wayne.
Balancing his high school life with his superhero responsibilities, Terry patrols the city at night while working as Bruce's personal assistant by day. Bruce guides Terry tactically and technically from the Batcave via a direct comm-link.
Throughout his heroic career, Terry fights a new generation of high-tech villains while managing relationships with his girlfriend Dana Tan, his classmate Maxine 'Max' Gibson, and his younger brother Matt. Over time, Terry proves himself a worthy dark knight in his own right, earning his place in the broader DC Universe while upholding Bruce's legacy.
Storia

Terry McGinnis's transformation into Batman begins after he fights off members of the Jokerz street gang outside Wayne Manor, leading him to discover the secret identity of Bruce Wayne.
Soon after, Terry's father, Warren McGinnis, is murdered by mercenaries employed by corporate tyrant Derek Powers. Seeking justice, Terry steals Bruce's futuristic high-tech Batsuit to stop Powers.
Recognizing Terry's determination and sense of justice, Bruce agrees to mentor him from the Batcave as his tactical advisor and armorer. Years later, in the Justice League Unlimited episode 'Epilogue', a major revelation alters Terry's origin: Amanda Waller and Project Cadmus secretly overwritten Warren McGinnis's reproductive DNA with Bruce Wayne's genetic code. This retcon reveals that Terry is biologically Bruce Wayne's biological son, engineered to ensure that Gotham would always have a Batman.

Evoluzione
Created in 1999 by Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, and Alan Burnett, Batman Beyond began as an original animated television character designed to offer a fresh, futuristic perspective on Gotham City. After establishing himself through 52 television episodes and DCAU crossovers in The Zeta Project, Static Shock, and Justice League Unlimited, the character's narrative evolved significantly with the 2005 episode 'Epilogue', which retconned Terry into Bruce Wayne's biological son.
In 2010, Grant Morrison officially brought Terry McGinnis into main DC Comics continuity in Batman #700. Subsequent comic book eras deepened his world, including The New 52: Futures End (where Tim Drake temporarily wore the Beyond suit) and the 2016 DC Rebirth run, which restored Terry and introduced his brother Matt as Robin. Modern storylines like Neo-Year (2022) and Neo-Gothic (2023) further evolved Terry by pushing him to defend Neo-Gotham independently following Bruce Wayne's death.
