ARYA STARK
Arya Stark is the younger daughter and third child of Lord Ned Stark and Lady Catelyn Stark of Winterfell. Rejecting traditional highborn gender roles in favor of archery, swordplay, and survival, she evolves from a spirited Northern girl into a deadly assassin trained by the Faceless Men of Braavos. Portrayed by Maisie Williams in HBO's Game of Thrones, her saga spans iconic literature, television, comic adaptations, tabletop miniatures, and video games.
Cronologia
Biografia
Arya Stark is a central POV character in George R. R. Martin's epic fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire and its HBO television adaptation Game of Thrones, where she is portrayed across all eight seasons by Maisie Williams. Born and raised at Winterfell, Arya is the youngest daughter of Lord Eddard 'Ned' Stark and Lady Catelyn Stark.
Unlike her sister Sansa, Arya openly rejects traditional noble expectations, finding embroidery tedious and preferring combat, archery, and outdoor adventure. Her journey turns tragic following her father's execution in King's Landing. Forced to flee the capital, Arya travels through the war-torn Riverlands under various disguises while keeping a nightly death list of those who harmed her family and friends.
Her paths cross with key figures across Westeros, including the Brotherhood Without Banners and Sandor Clegane ('The Hound'), before she sails across the Narrow Sea to Braavos. In Braavos, Arya enters the House of Black and White to train with the deadly Faceless Men, mastering disguise and assassination techniques. In the television adaptation, she eventually returns to Westeros with elite combat capabilities, bringing vengeance to House Frey, standing alongside her family at Winterfell to defeat the Night King, and ultimately embarking on an expedition to explore uncharted waters west of Westeros.
Storia
Arya grew up at Winterfell surrounded by her siblings Robb, Sansa, Bran, and Rickon, alongside her bastard half-brother Jon Snow. While Septa Mordane praised Sansa's refined stitchwork, Arya struggled with courtly domestic duties and often snuck out to practice archery, famously out-shooting her brother Bran in the courtyard.
She shared a special bond with Jon Snow, who recognized her rebellious spirit and gifted her a slender sword named Needle before departing for the Night's Watch. When Lord Ned Stark was named Hand of the King, Arya accompanied him to King's Landing along with a direwolf pup she named Nymeria after a legendary warrior-queen of Essos.
An incident on the Kingsroad—where Nymeria bit Prince Joffrey to protect Arya during a fight—forced Arya to drive her direwolf away into the wild to save her life. Upon arriving in the capital, Ned discovered Arya's sword Needle; recognizing her determination, he hired Syrio Forel, former First Sword of Braavos, to instruct her in the agile swordplay discipline known as 'water dancing'.

Evoluzione
Arya Stark undergoes one of the most drastic character evolutions in fantasy literature and television, transforming from a rebellious noble child into a formidable master assassin. Initially resisting courtly norms at Winterfell, her worldview shatters with her father's brutal execution. Forced into hiding as 'Arry' on the road to the Wall, she is exposed to war horrors, forcing her to rely on quick thinking, stealth, and a nightly 'death list' prayer to process her grief and desire for vengeance.
Her transformation reaches its peak across the Narrow Sea in Braavos. At the House of Black and White, she surrenders her worldly identity to become 'no one,' enduring blind training, physical beatings from the Waif, and dark rituals. Despite discarding her past, Arya retains her core identity—symbolized by hiding Needle in the rocks rather than throwing it into the lagoon. Returning to Westeros, she channels her deadly skills to avenge her family, ultimately transcending her role as a killer to become a defender of humanity and a legendary explorer.
