Special Edition (Infinity War version)

This appearance represents Thanos during his ultimate cosmic crusade in Avengers: Infinity War (2018). Moving away from his throne room in deep space, Thanos descends directly onto the battlefield across worlds like Titan and Wakanda. Having shed his full battle armor and regal helmet, he wears a sleeveless vest and tunic that leaves his massive arms free to wield the Infinity Gauntlet. The scene captured by this version culminates in his confrontation with Earth's heroes in Wakanda, where he secures the final Infinity Stone, survives Thor's attack, and snaps his fingers to erase half of all life in the universe before retreating peacefully to The Garden.

The Infinity War version marks a pivotal thematic and visual shift for Thanos within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Moving away from the armored, throne-bound warlord depicted in earlier cameos, this simplified appearance reflects a spiritual pilgrim on a philosophical mission. By discarding his helmet and armor as he collects the Infinity Stones, Thanos demonstrates absolute confidence that physical protection is no longer necessary. This iconic look represents the climax of the Infinity Saga, defining the singular moment when a Marvel villain achieved his ultimate goal.

Designed by visual effects supervisor Matt Aitken and the team at Weta Digital, this version features significant aesthetic updates compared to earlier appearances. His skin tone was lightened from a dark reddish-purple to a pinkish-purple shade with lifelike skin texture, fine stubble, and visible veins. The facial structure directly translates actor Josh Brolin's performance capture details into CGI. His costume consists of a sleeveless dark blue and gold tunic over dark pants, exposing his muscular arms, and features the left-handed golden Infinity Gauntlet engineered to illuminate all six Infinity Stones.
