ELROND
Elrond Half-elven is a legendary figure in Middle-earth, serving as the wise Lord of Rivendell and a primary protector of the Free Peoples across three ages. As a bearer of the Elven Ring Vilya and a renowned lore-master, his leadership was instrumental in the forging of the Fellowship and the ultimate downfall of Sauron.
Cronologia
Biografia
Elrond is the Master of Imladris (Rivendell) and one of the most respected leaders in the history of the Elves.
Throughout the Second and Third Ages, he served as a beacon of wisdom, a healer, and a powerful strategist who maintained the 'Last Homely House' as a sanctuary for those fighting the shadow.
He is famously depicted as the leader who convened the Council of Elrond, where the fate of the One Ring was decided. Beyond his administrative and political duties, Elrond was a veteran of the greatest battles in Middle-earth history, including the War of the Last Alliance. His life is defined by the unique 'Choice of the Half-elven,' opting for immortality and the fate of the Elves while his brother Elros founded the line of mortal kings. He eventually fostered Aragorn II, the heir of Isildur, ensuring the survival of the royal lineage of Men.
Storia
Born in the First Age (F.A. 532) at the Havens of Sirion, Elrond was the son of the legendary mariner Eärendil and Elwing. Following a violent attack on his home by the Sons of Fëanor, he and his twin brother Elros were captured but eventually raised with care by Maglor.
This turbulent upbringing at the end of the First Age culminated in the War of Wrath, after which the Valar granted him and his brother the choice of their kinship. Elrond chose to be counted among the Elves and became the herald to the High King Gil-galad in Lindon.
During the Second Age, he was dispatched to protect Eregion from Sauron's invasion. Though he arrived too late to save the city, he gathered the refugees and founded the hidden stronghold of Rivendell in S.A. 1697. He later fought on the slopes of Mount Doom, witnessing the defeat of Sauron and the failure of Isildur to destroy the Ring.
Evoluzione
Elrond's evolution is a journey from a young, optimistic herald to a weary, solemn guardian. In the Second Age (depicted in The Rings of Power), he is more politically active and eager to build alliances, often acting as a bridge between Elves and Dwarves.
However, the trauma of the War of the Elves and Sauron, combined with the catastrophic failure of Men at the end of the Second Age, transforms him into the more cautious and cynical figure seen in The Lord of the Rings. By the end of the Third Age, he has become a 'master of the past,' focused on preserving lore and protecting the fading Elven culture. His departure from Middle-earth in T.A. 3021 represents the final stage of this evolution: the realization that the time of the Elves has ended and the world now belongs to the dominion of Men.
Da Collezione
For collectors, Elrond is a high-priority character often associated with premium craftsmanship. Weta Workshop remains the gold standard, producing several limited-edition statues including a stunning 1:6 scale depiction of Elrond in his Second Age battle armor. Sideshow Collectibles has also released iconic busts and statues that capture Hugo Weaving's likeness with incredible detail.
For prop enthusiasts, the Hadhafang sword replica by United Cutlery is considered a 'grail' item, featuring Elven runes and a distinct curved blade design. The market for Elrond figures is currently seeing a resurgence due to The Rings of Power, with New Elrond variants appearing in LEGO sets and high-end action figures from Diamond Select Toys, which are highly sought after for their articulation and film-accurate accessories.

In the films, Elrond’s skepticism of Men was influenced by his direct observation of Isildur’s refusal to destroy the Ring.
