Biografia

Dubroc is an anti-hero who serves as the primary protagonist within the Queen multimedia franchise, specifically the 1998 video game Queen: The eYe. He was originally the most powerful and faithful of 'The Controllers,' a group of ruthless agents who carried out the dirty deeds of a sentient, all-seeing machine known as The eYe.

In this dystopian future, Dubroc lived as an authoritative enforcer who never questioned orders, mindlessly suppressing freedom within a world where music and art were strictly forbidden. His role shifted from oppressor to fugitive after he accidentally discovered a forbidden musical archive. The sounds and images of the past—specifically the music of Queen—shattered his loyalty and revealed the corruption of the regime. Captured and branded a traitor, Dubroc was sentenced to death in the Arena, a gladiatorial maze. He now travels through the Queen Domains as a man with a bleak future, driven by a tormented soul to atone for his past by destroying the very regime he once served.

Storia

Dubroc’s origins are rooted in the year 2150, where he functioned as a high-ranking agent for The eYe. His life of blind obedience ended when he stumbled across an access port leading to a hidden database of 20th-century rock music.

Before he could process the realization that his world was built on lies, he was ambushed by the entity 'Death on Two Legs.' Interrogated and beaten by his former colleague Kazan, Dubroc was excommunicated from the Network. The eYe sentenced him to a televised death in the Arena Domain, forcing him to navigate lethal traps and defeat champion 'Watchers' to reclaim his freedom and begin his quest for vengeance.

LO SAPEVI?His story is set in the dystopian year of 2150.

Evoluzione

Dubroc represents a technical milestone in character design, being one of the first video game protagonists created using high-resolution facial motion capture and performance capture, modeled after Aikido trainer William Timms.

Narratively, his character evolved from a faceless enforcer to a symbolic 'Legacy Character' for the Queen brand. While he hasn't appeared in modern films like Bohemian Rhapsody, his story served as the direct narrative blueprint for the character Galileo Figaro in the hit musical 'We Will Rock You,' shifting the Dubroc archetype from a 1990s action hero into a theatrical spiritual successor.

LO SAPEVI?The character was created using the BRender engine, which requires significant tinkering to run on modern computers.

Da Collezione

For collectors of the Queen franchise, Dubroc remains a 'grail' figure in the realm of physical media rather than traditional plastic figures. The primary collector's item is the original 1998 big-box 5-disc CD-ROM set produced by Electronic Arts.

Due to its status as 'deleted' and out of print, pristine copies of 'Queen: The eYe' are highly sought after by retro-gaming enthusiasts. Collectors often look for the five distinct thematic discs, each featuring unique art of Dubroc within the different domains (Arena, Works, Theatre, Innuendo, and Final). Recently, high-resolution digitized renders from the 2024 Video Game History Foundation release have become the modern standard for fans cataloging the character's visual history.

LO SAPEVI?Though he isn't in the musical 'We Will Rock You,' the character Galileo Figaro is his direct spiritual successor.
