SUPERMAN (CLARK KENT)
Superman, born Kal-El on the planet Krypton and raised as Clark Kent in Smallville, is the quintessential hero of the DC Universe. From his debut in 1938 to his various iterations in the DCEU and Earth-22, he remains a symbol of truth, justice, and the resilience of the human spirit.
Cronologia
Biografia
Superman is the last survivor of the planet Krypton, sent to Earth as an infant by his parents, Jor-El and Lara. Raised by Jonathan and Martha Kent in Smallville, he learned to use his godlike powers for the benefit of humanity.
Under the secret identity of journalist Clark Kent, he works at the Daily Planet in Metropolis, where he eventually fell in love with and married his fellow reporter, Lois Lane. His role in the story is that of a beacon of hope and a moral anchor for the world's metahuman population.
Whether leading the Justice League or navigating the dark tragedy of Earth-22, where he lost his wife and colleagues to a gas attack by the Joker, Clark consistently struggles to balance his immense power with his faith in human goodness. In later years, he transitioned from a proactive enforcer of justice to a guide for humanity, raising a family with Wonder Woman in the Earth-22 continuity.
Storia
Born Kal-El on Krypton, his origin was defined by his father's failed attempt to save their world, leading to Kal-El's journey to Earth. As an adult, his life took a tragic turn on Earth-22 when the Joker launched a gas attack on the Daily Planet.
Lois Lane died in his arms, making him promise not to kill the Joker. However, when a new hero named Magog executed the Joker and was acquitted by the public, Superman became disillusioned with humanity's acceptance of murder.
He retreated to the Fortress of Solitude for nearly a decade, leaving a power vacuum filled by violent metahumans. He was eventually coaxed back into action by Wonder Woman to reform the Justice League following a nuclear disaster in Kansas caused by Magog's reckless actions.
Evoluzione
Superman has transitioned through several distinct eras. In the Golden Age, he was a crusader for social justice, later becoming a godlike figure in the Silver Age with an expanded family. The 1986 'Man of Steel' reboot grounded him as more human, while the 1990s focus on his death and return highlighted his mortality.
In the DCEU, Henry Cavill's Superman explored the burden of being a god among men, often characterized by a more somber tone. The Earth-22 iteration shows a weary, older Kal-El who must rediscover his compassion. Most recently, the 2025 DCU reboot with David Corenswet shifts back toward a 'hopeful and optimistic' portrayal, emphasizing his status as an idealistic hero in a modern metahuman world.
Da Collezione
Superman is a titan of the collectibles industry, with high-end brands like Hot Toys and Sideshow Collectibles producing hyper-realistic 1/6 scale figures of Christopher Reeve and Henry Cavill.
The 'Kingdom Come' (Earth-22) version is a particular grail for many, often produced by DC Direct or McFarlane Toys with its signature black-and-red 'S' shield and weathered features. McFarlane's DC Multiverse line has become the dominant mass-market brand, releasing versions of the character from 'Action Comics #1' to the 'Superman & Lois' TV series. Value trends typically peak for film-accurate statues and vintage Silver Age comics, with first appearances in Action Comics remaining the ultimate prize for any elite collector.
Superman once worked as a TV news anchor during the Bronze Age of comics.
