GRAND ADMIRAL THRAWN
Grand Admiral Thrawn, born Mitth'raw'nuruodo, is a legendary Chiss military strategist and the only non-human to attain the rank of Grand Admiral within the Galactic Empire. Renowned for his cold brilliance and his unique method of using a species' art to predict their tactical maneuvers, he serves as a primary antagonist in both the classic Legends continuity and the modern Star Wars Canon.
Cronologia
Biografia

Grand Admiral Thrawn is a master of military strategy and lethal warfare, characterized by his striking blue skin, glowing red eyes, and calm, analytical demeanor. Unlike many Imperial officers who rely on brute force, Thrawn utilizes a deep understanding of philosophy and culture to dismantle his enemies from the inside out.
He views the 'art of war' as a discipline to be perfected, and his rise through the xenophobic Imperial ranks is a testament to his indispensability to Emperor Palpatine.
After being brought into the Empire, Thrawn ascended rapidly, eventually becoming the commander of the 7th Fleet and a key figure in the suppression of early insurgent cells. His influence extends beyond the original Galactic Civil War, as he is currently positioned as the 'Heir to the Empire' and the strategic leader of the Imperial Remnant in the era of the New Republic. His ultimate goal remains the protection of his people, the Chiss, from mysterious threats lurking in the Unknown Regions.
Storia

Thrawn originated from the Chiss Ascendancy in the Unknown Regions. His Imperial journey began when he was discovered on an uncharted world in Wild Space by an Imperial scouting party led by Captain Voss Parck and Cadet Eli Vanto.
Although he initially claimed to be an exile who was cast out for launching preemptive strikes against nomadic pirates, this was later revealed to be a carefully orchestrated move to infiltrate and evaluate the Empire. Upon arriving at Coruscant, Thrawn secured an audience with Emperor Palpatine.
He offered his tactical genius and knowledge of the Unknown Regions in exchange for the Empire's eventual protection of the Chiss people. Despite facing intense xenophobia and political sabotage from Core World elites and officers like Commandant Deenlark and Moff Ghadi, Thrawn’s undeniable success in routing smugglers, pirates, and rebels earned him the Emperor's unwavering support and a fast-track to the highest echelons of power.
Evoluzione
Thrawn’s evolution is unique in Star Wars history, as he successfully transitioned from a 'Legends' antagonist to a core pillar of the official Canon. Originally conceived as the primary threat following the Emperor's death in the 1990s, his character was rebooted in 2016 to fit the era of the Galactic Empire's peak.
In modern storytelling, his motivations have shifted from being a purely Imperial loyalist to a pragmatist who views the Empire as a necessary shield for his own people. His transition to live-action in the 'MandoVerse' has further evolved him into a mythic figure—a 'boogeyman' of the New Republic whose return signifies the resurgence of the Imperial Remnant. From literary icon to animated villain and finally to a theatrical threat, Thrawn remains the gold standard for tactical antagonists.
Da Collezione
Grand Admiral Thrawn is a 'grail' character for many Star Wars collectors due to his distinct aesthetic and fan-favorite status. Hasbro has released several high-demand iterations in 'The Black Series' (6-inch), with the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con exclusive being the most coveted, as it featured a throne room diorama and a collection of physical 'art' accessories.
For high-end collectors, Hot Toys released a 1/6 scale figure in 2024 based on Lars Mikkelsen’s live-action portrayal in 'Ahsoka,' featuring a tailored uniform and weathered details. LEGO versions of Thrawn, specifically the one included in the 'Phantom II' (Set 75170), have seen their secondary market value skyrocket because of the character's limited availability in brick form. Other notable brands producing Thrawn merchandise include Gentle Giant (busts and statues) and various premium book publishers like Del Rey, which released a special 'Star Destroyer slipcase' edition of the 2017 novel.

He believes that the lack of emergency buttons on Imperial comlinks is a design flaw he tried to rectify.
