Directed by J.J. Abrams and released in 2015, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens is the first installment of the sequel trilogy. Set thirty years after the fall of the Galactic Empire, the film follows a new generation of heroes as they search for the missing Luke Skywalker and face the rising threat of the First Order.

Panoramica

Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens is a 2015 film directed by J.J. Abrams and produced by Lucasfilm. It serves as the seventh entry in the chronological Skywalker Saga and successfully revitalized the franchise following Disney's 2012 acquisition of the studio.

Trama

Thirty years after the destruction of the second Death Star, Luke Skywalker, the last surviving Jedi Master, has disappeared. In his absence, the sinister First Order has emerged from the remnants of the Empire to terrorize the galaxy. Resistance General Leia Organa sends her most daring pilot, Poe Dameron, to the planet Jakku to retrieve a map that leads to Luke's whereabouts, but a brutal First Order strike led by the dark warrior Kylo Ren forces Poe to entrust the information to his astromech droid, BB-8.

BB-8 is rescued by Rey, a resilient scavenger living in the deserts of Jakku. Soon after, they encounter Finn, a stormtrooper formerly known as FN-2187, who deserted the First Order after witnessing a massacre. Together, the group escapes the planet aboard the Millennium Falcon and encounters the legendary Han Solo and Chewbacca. Their journey becomes a race against time to deliver the map to the Resistance while evading Kylo Ren's relentless pursuit, ultimately setting the stage for a new generation of Force-sensitive heroes to emerge.

Produzione

The production of Episode VII was the first major Star Wars project following the 2012 acquisition of Lucasfilm by Disney. Director J.J. Abrams prioritized practical effects and real locations to capture the feel of the original trilogy, filming major sequences in Abu Dhabi to represent the desert planet Jakku. The production introduced a new era of stormtrooper designs, including the silver-armored Captain Phasma and specialized Flametroopers.

Accoglienza

The Force Awakens was a monumental commercial success, breaking numerous box office records and serving as a massive cultural event. Critics praised its ability to blend nostalgic elements with a fresh cast of characters, effectively launching a new trilogy for a global audience. Its legacy includes the successful transition of the franchise into the Disney era and the establishment of Rey, Finn, and Kylo Ren as iconic figures in the Star Wars canon.

Da Collezione

For collectors, this film sparked a massive surge in demand for high-end figures and building sets. LEGO has been a dominant force, releasing an extensive line of kits and even a dedicated 'LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens' video game that expanded on the movie's lore. Brand-new characters like BB-8 and the uniquely-helmed Kylo Ren became instant favorites for figure brands such as Hot Toys and Hasbro's Black Series. As of 2026, the market continues to expand with specialized releases like 'Monopoly: Star Wars Heroes vs. Villains,' which integrates the sequel's cast into classic tabletop gaming, and limited-edition items inspired by the film's iconic moments, such as the bloody stormtrooper helmet or Rey's quarterstaff.

Curiosità

💡Finn's stormtrooper serial number is FN-2187, a designation he had held since birth before Poe Dameron gave him a real name.
💡The first time Rey sees the Millennium Falcon, she calls it 'garbage' because of its weathered appearance.
💡Kylo Ren has a volatile temper, evidenced by him destroying an instrument panel with his lightsaber after a subordinate delivers bad news.
💡Han Solo’s first line upon re-entering his old ship is 'Chewie, we're home,' a moment that became iconic for fans of the original trilogy.
💡During his interrogation, Poe Dameron humorously asks Kylo Ren if he or Ren is supposed to talk first while Ren is using the Force to probe his mind.
💡Finn's faith in the First Order was shattered when a fellow trooper smeared blood on his helmet during a village massacre.
💡Kylo Ren demonstrated a terrifying new Force ability by stopping a blaster bolt in mid-air and holding it there for minutes.
💡The scavenger Rey lives inside a hollowed-out, downed Imperial AT-AT walker on the planet Jakku.
