Cronologia
Panoramica
Created in 1969 by writers Joe Ruby and Ken Spears for Hanna-Barbera Productions, Scooby-Doo is an absolute titan of animated pop culture.
The franchise debuted as a Saturday morning cartoon designed to provide non-violent entertainment for kids.
Over its half-century history, the IP has grown to encompass 15 animated television series—with upcoming projects including the anime-inspired Go-Go Mystery Machine! and Netflix's live-action Scooby-Doo: Origins—alongside over 40 animated and live-action feature films, dozens of console and PC video games, and continuous comic book publishing lines from Gold Key, Marvel, Harvey, Archie, and DC Comics.
Origini
The franchise originated from a joint plan between CBS and Hanna-Barbera to develop a non-violent Saturday morning program, calming parent watch groups that had protested mid-1960s superhero cartoons.
Originally developed under working titles including The House of Mystery, The Mysteries Five, and Who's S-S-Scared?, early scripts leaned into a musical group concept borrowed from The Archie Show.
Story supervisors Joe Ruby and Ken Spears eventually downplayed the band element to focus on four teenagers—Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Shaggy—and a large, cowardly Great Dane named Scooby-Doo. Premiering on September 13, 1969, as Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, the series established its iconic formula: Mystery Inc. arrives in the Mystery Machine, investigates local monster sightings, gathers clues, sets traps, and unmasks human villains in disguise.

Collezionismo
The Scooby-Doo collecting universe covers high-profile toy lines, physical media box sets, and vintage gaming media. LEGO has been a major highlight for physical figure collectors, producing building sets, standalone animated movies, and physical minifigures (including Scooby, Shaggy, and the Mystery Machine) for Lego Dimensions.
Physical media enthusiasts hunt for coveted releases like the 2019 Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! The Complete Series, Mystery Mansion Limited Edition Blu-Ray box set—fully restored from original camera negatives—as well as vintage 1990s Classic Scooby-Doo VHS tapes. Additionally, retro video game collectors actively seek original physical releases, ranging from 1980s Intellivision and Commodore 64 software to 16-bit SNES and Genesis cartridges.
