Cronologia
Biografia
Thomas 'Tommy' S. Arashikage, universally known as Storm Shadow, is an elite martial artist, ninjutsu master, and one of the most compelling figures in the G.I. Joe saga. Born into the prestigious Japanese Arashikage Clan, Tommy served in a U.S. Army Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP) during the Vietnam War alongside Snake Eyes and Stalker.
Following his military service, Tommy brought Snake Eyes to Japan to train in his family's ancient ninja traditions, forging a deep bond that was equal parts brotherhood and fierce rivalry under the instruction of his uncle, the Hard Master. When the Hard Master was mysteriously assassinated with an arrow intended for Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow was framed for the crime.
Despised and mistrusted by his own clan, he fled the dojo and covertly infiltrated Cobra under the guise of Cobra Commander's chief ninja assassin and bodyguard. While the world viewed him as a ruthless mercenary, Tommy operated deep undercover inside Cobra with a single burning goal: to uncover the identity of his uncle's true murderer. Throughout his history across Marvel, Devil's Due, IDW, and Skybound comics, as well as feature films, Storm Shadow walks a razor-thin line between villainy and heroism. Once the truth behind the assassination was exposed—revealing the mercenary Zartan as the killer—Storm Shadow broke ties with Cobra to clear his honor, frequently aligning with G.I. Joe and fighting alongside Snake Eyes to protect the world.
Storia
Storm Shadow's origins lie within the ancient Arashikage Clan, where he was raised as the nephew and dedicated student of the Hard Master. During his youth, Tommy first encountered Snake Eyes, initially believing the boy to be an intruder and engaging him in combat.
Although Tommy defeated Snake Eyes using nunchaku, the Hard Master was profoundly impressed by Snake Eyes' natural combat potential and made him his favorite pupil. This favoritism fostered intense jealousy in Tommy. Tragedy struck when the Hard Master was assassinated inside the dojo.
Because the fatal shot was delivered by an arrow, suspicion immediately fell upon Tommy, forcing him to flee into exile. In reality, the assassin was the master-of-disguise Zartan, who fired the shot intending to kill Snake Eyes and framed Storm Shadow for the crime. Unable to convince his clan of his innocence, Tommy embraced the name Storm Shadow and offered his lethal skills to M.A.R.S. Industries and Cobra, using his position inside the organization to stalk his uncle's killer.

Evoluzione
Created by writer Larry Hama in 1984, Storm Shadow was initially introduced as Cobra's deadliest assassin and bodyguard. However, Hama quickly deepened the character by giving him a tragic backstory: Tommy was not inherently evil, but an honorable warrior driven into darkness after being falsely accused of his master's murder. This twist transformed him from a standard villain into one of comic history's earliest and most famous antihero redeemers.
Over the decades, Storm Shadow's journey has been defined by a constant battle between duty, mind control, and personal honor. In the Marvel and Devil's Due comic runs, he repeatedly broke free from Cobra's Brainwave Scanner to join G.I. Joe's Ninja Force. In modern adaptations, such as the live-action films and Skybound's Energon Universe, he remains an intense force balancing ancient clan traditions, corporate espionage, and a complex brotherhood with Snake Eyes.
