The Hasbro Black Series brings Bib Fortuna, Jabba the Hutt’s loyal advisor, to life in a 15 cm sculpture that captures the bleak and menacing atmosphere of Return of the Jedi. This edition celebrates the film’s 40th anniversary, offering collectors a piece of galactic history with the line’s signature craftsmanship. It’s an invitation to relive Tatooine’s shadow, sculpted in a 6-inch format that doesn’t disappoint expectations.
The Scene
The figure recreates the role of Jabba’s Palace butler, set on Tatooine during the events of Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983). In this scene, Bib Fortuna is depicted greeting visitors and overseeing the palace operations, embodying his role as the Hutt’s trusted advisor.
The Character
More than a simple servant, Bib Fortuna embodies the latent tension of power in the Star Wars universe. As Jabba the Hutt’s butler, he manages the vast criminal network of the Tatooine crime lord, acting as a filter between the master and the outside world. His figure, recognizable by its red eyes and the distinctive lekku wrapped around its neck, embodies a quiet ambition: behind his obsequiousness and eerie Huttese whisper, Fortuna awaits the right moment to seize the throne. This looming betrayal dynamic adds narrative depth to the Jabba’s Palace scene, making it a crucial element for those wishing to recreate not just the aesthetics, but also the complex power dynamics that define the third film of the original trilogy.
Why Collect It
For a collector, adding Bib Fortuna to their display means completing Jabba the Hutt’s power core with a Black Series figure, the benchmark for cinematic detail fidelity. This edition, designed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, stands out with its 15 cm scale and sculptural precision that elevates a secondary character into a prized display piece. It’s not just a toy but a piece crafted for adults, capable of narrating the story through pose and texture, ensuring that anyone who owns it possesses a rare and indispensable element of completeness for their collection.
