The Scene
This replica faithfully captures an iconic detail directly from the set of Ghostbusters (1984): the distinctive New York license plate mounted on the legendary Cadillac Ecto-1. The Character
Although the Ecto-1 is not a character in the traditional sense, its significance within the saga is fundamental: it represents the embodiment of Dr. Ray Stantz’s ingenuity and audacity, who transformed a 1959 Miller‑Meteor Cadillac—originally a ambulance/funeral vehicle—into the ultimate ghost‑busting response vehicle. Equipped with rooftop tracking gear and all the team’s proton packs and traps, the Ecto‑1 is more than just a means of transport; it is the operational heart of the Ghostbusters universe, an essential pillar that has defined the team’s aesthetic and functionality since its debut in the 1984 film. For collectors, this symbolic element elevates the license plate replica from a simple decorative item to a narrative‑rich piece that embodies the pioneering spirit and unmistakable identity of the franchise.
Why Collect It
