The Best of series from Diamond Select Toys brings the most eccentric icon of Halloween Town, Dr. Finkelstein, to a new scale level. This action figure, part of the second wave dedicated to Tim Burton’s classic characters, captures the grotesque and fascinating essence of the character in a tangible, ready‑to‑display form. A must‑have for every collector looking to complete their collection with distinctive, recognizable character‑design pieces.
The Scene
The sculpture captures the most emblematic and recognizable moment of the character: Dr. Finkelstein sitting in his iconic wheelchair. The defining detail of this appearance is the articulated skull, shown in an open position to reveal the internal brain, a signature trait that accompanies the professor throughout the entire film The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993). This static yet expressive pose faithfully recreates the original stop‑motion aesthetic, forever fixing the image of the mad genius of Halloween Town in a perfect studio scene for the collector’s display.
The Character
Dr. Finkelstein is not just a resident of Halloween Town, but the mad genius behind the creation of Sally, a fundamental narrative link that connects distorted science to the emotional magic of the story. His arc revolves around constant frustration: the tension between his brilliant intellect and explosive temperament, making him one of the most memorable and charismatic antagonists in Tim Burton’s stop‑motion masterpiece. His presence is essential to complete the lab setting, where his motorized wheelchair and the zipper helmet that reveals the exposed brain are not only visual details, but externalizations of his unstable mind. Voiced by the unforgettable William Hickey, this character embodies the essence of 1993’s classicism, offering collectors a key figure for those seeking to recreate the authentic and nostalgic atmosphere of the original film.
Why Collect It
This figure represents much more than a mere shelf item: it is the keystone for anyone looking to complete their exhibit dedicated to Halloween Town with a curated, high‑quality selection. Belonging to Diamond Select Toys’ Best of line gives Dr. Finkelstein a reference‑grade status, ideal for collectors who prioritize aesthetic fidelity and detail over quantity. Displaying it celebrates a pillar of Tim Burton’s gothic narrative, adding instant prestige to a collection thanks to its stage presence and intrinsic value as part of a select series.
