The legendary Lance Corporal Jones from Dad's Army comes to life in Big Chief Studios Bobble Buddies collection, capturing the unparalleled comedic energy of the character in a first-series mini bobble head. This edition offers collectors an exclusive chance to add an iconic piece of British pop culture to their display.
The Scene
The figurine faithfully recreates Lance Corporal Jones' iconic appearance in the 1968 television series Dad's Army, depicted in his standard Home Guard uniform during World War II. The details are handled with precision: the characteristic side cap, the metal-trimmed glasses, and the rifle that completes the gear are all rendered exactly as the character has been immortalized across the classic British comedy.
The Character
Beyond being a comic figure, Lance Corporal Jones embodies the heroic obsession of a man who has never stopped fighting—a veteran carrying the weight and glory of campaigns in Sudan, South Africa, and World War I. His entry into Walmington-on-Sea's Home Guard was not due to tactical necessity but a visceral impulse to serve the country, making him the restless soul of Captain Mainwaring's platoon. In British television history, Jones has become the symbol of exuberant enthusiasm and exaggerated military anecdotes, turning every domestic mission into an epic battlefield. This figurine captures not only his uniform but the essence of a cultural legend: a character whose booming energy and famous exclamations have made him an indelible pillar of the BBC sitcom, essential for any collector who wants to preserve the authentic spirit of a golden age of British comedy.
Why Collect It
