Overview
The Funko Advent Calendar line is a primary seasonal collectible format produced by Funko, offering interactive daily countdowns for Christmas and Halloween.
Positioned as accessible, franchise-spanning holiday collectibles, these sets contain miniature vinyl figures packaged behind individual punch-out doors. The product line mainly utilizes three distinct figure scales: Pocket Pop! figures (1.5 to 2 inches tall), Pint Size Heroes (approx.
1.5 inches), and the micro-scale Bitty Pop! figures (~0.9 inches tall encased in acrylic shells). The calendar boxes are engineered with fold-out artwork backdrops or modular acrylic shelves that double as immediate diorama displays for the included vinyl mini-figures. Format variations range from traditional 24-day holiday countdowns to specialized 12-day, 14-day, and 13-day 'Spooky Countdowns' designed specifically for the Halloween season.
History
Funko launched its official Advent Calendar line in 2018 with a 24-day Harry Potter Pocket Pop! set alongside a limited-edition Freddy Funko calendar exclusive to the Funko Shop.
Following the initial launch, Funko expanded the concept in 2019 to incorporate major pop culture licenses such as Marvel's 80th Anniversary and video games like Fortnite using the Pint Size Heroes format.
Over subsequent years, the lineup broadened to include anime (Dragon Ball Z), classic TV sitcoms (The Office), horror gaming (Five Nights at Freddy's), and hit streaming series (Stranger Things). In 2022, Funko expanded its calendar strategy by introducing 13-Day Spooky Countdowns tailored for Halloween, featuring themed options like blacklight-reactive figures. A major format evolution occurred in 2024 when Funko introduced the micro-sized Bitty Pop! calendar format, equipped with stackable acrylic display shells. The brand also expanded into official sports licenses, releasing its first NFL calendar in 2024 and expanding into the NBA by 2026.

Collecting & Value
Funko Advent Calendars occupy a distinct niche in the toy market by mixing seasonal holiday tradition with pop culture collecting. Mini-figure collectors are drawn to these sets because they frequently contain exclusive variants—such as figures in holiday ugly sweaters, gingerbread motifs, or special blacklight-reactive finishes—that are not released individually in standard packaging.
Inaugural editions, such as the 2018 Freddy Funko exclusive or milestone theme debuts like the Horror Classics 13-Day Spooky Countdown, remain sought-after items on the secondary market. Additionally, condition is a key factor for collectors, as unopened sets with unpunched doors generally retain higher value than loose figure sets. The integration of modular Bitty Pop! acrylic cases and display stands has further enhanced collectible appeal by solving display space constraints for micro-figure collectors.
