Cronologia
Biography
Princess Elena of Avalor is the courageous lead character of Disney's animated franchise *Elena of Avalor*. Born to King Raul and Queen Lucia, Elena was destined to inherit the throne of her Latin-inspired kingdom.
When the dark sorceress Shuriki invaded Avalor, Elena sacrificed herself to protect her family, resulting in her being magically trapped inside the Amulet of Avalor for 41 years. After Princess Sofia of Enchancia discovers the secret of the amulet and helps break the curse, Elena returns home to reclaim her realm.
Because kingdom by-laws mandate that a monarch must be of age to sit on the throne, Elena assumes leadership as Crown Princess rather than Queen. To assist her in governing, she forms a Grand Council comprising her grandparents Francisco and Luisa, her cousin Esteban, and her close friend Naomi Turner. Across her reign, Elena balances her impulsive spirit with her royal duties, protecting Avalor from magical threats and forging diplomatic alliances.
Backstory
Elena grew up in the castle of Avalor alongside her younger sister Princess Isabel and maternal cousin Esteban, enjoying traditional kingdom celebrations such as Carnaval, Día de los Muertos, and Día de las Madres.
At age fifteen, her mother Queen Lucia presented her with the Maruvian Amulet of Avalor for protection. A year later, tragedy struck when the evil sorceress Shuriki launched a deadly assault on the palace, killing King Raul and Queen Lucia.
To save the remaining royals, Royal Wizard Alacazar cast a spell preserving Isabel and Elena's grandparents inside an enchanted painting. Elena confronted Shuriki directly to buy Alacazar time. When Shuriki tried to strike her down with dark magic, the Amulet of Avalor pulled Elena inside itself to save her life. She remained imprisoned inside the jewel for over four decades until Princess Sofia of Enchancia unlocked the Secret Library visions and set out to liberate Avalor.

Evolution
Princess Elena undergoes a profound transformation from her debut in *Elena and the Secret of Avalor* to the series finale "Coronation Day." Initially, Elena is headstrong, overly confident, and prone to rushing into action without taking advice.
Her desire to single-handedly solve kingdom problems often leads her to take unnecessary risks, while her underlying trauma and PTSD from her parents' deaths briefly trigger a dark quest for personal revenge against Shuriki and anger toward her cousin Esteban. Over the course of three seasons, Elena learns to embrace patience, diplomacy, and collective governance. Her magic evolves alongside her emotional maturity—most notably after she falls into the Well of Crystals, where her powers physically reflect her emotional state. By learning to forgive past betrayals and trust her Grand Council, Elena matures into a compassionate, balanced ruler, earning her official crowning as Queen of Avalor.

For vinyl figure collectors, Funko released Princess Elena in its main Disney Pop! line (Pop! Disney #316).
