Cronologia
Biografia
Prince Adam is the prince of Eternia and the secret alter-ego of He-Man, the main hero of the Masters of the Universe franchise. Born to King Randor and Queen Marlena (a former astronaut from Earth), Adam resides in the Royal Palace of Eternia.
To protect his friends, family, and loved ones from Skeletor and other evil threats, Adam intentionally maintains the public persona of a happy-go-lucky, lazy, and carefree prince who shirks serious royal duties and escapes into adventurous escapades. Beneath his lighthearted facade lies Eternia's greatest protector.
Granted the magical Power Sword by the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull, Adam holds the sword aloft and proclaims "By the power of Grayskull... I have the power!" to transform into He-Man. His true identity is kept strictly confidential, known only to a tiny circle of trusted allies including Man-At-Arms, Orko, Cringer, and the Sorceress. Throughout his various depictions, Prince Adam balances his responsibilities as future heir to Eternia's throne with his sacred duty to defend Castle Grayskull. Though berated by allies like Teela for his apparent carelessness, Adam willingly endure these misunderstandings to ensure the safety of his kingdom.
Storia
Prince Adam's origin is tied to the ancient prophecy of Eternia. In the Filmation series, Adam grew up as the half-Eternian, half-Terran son of King Randor and Queen Marlena. His life changed dramatically when he was drawn to Eternia's Wind Forest by a screeching falcon.
Following the falcon to Castle Grayskull, he met the Sorceress, who revealed that his birth was foretold in ancient legends. She opened the Jaw Bridge, granted him the Power Sword, and instructed him to speak the magic words to unlock the power of Grayskull.
In the 2002 animated series, a teenaged Adam was brought to Castle Grayskull by Man-At-Arms on his birthday. Initially scoffing at the idea that he could be the hero of prophecy, Adam accepted his destiny when Skeletor attacked Eternia and kidnapped his father, King Randor. In the 2026 cinematic adaptation background, Adam Glenn was taken to Earth as a child to escape danger, returning to Eternia as an adult to reclaim his birthright with the Power Sword.

Evoluzione
Prince Adam's character was not present in the original 1981 Masters of the Universe toyline or initial minicomics, which depicted He-Man strictly as a wandering barbarian warrior. The secret identity of Prince Adam was introduced in DC Comics Presents #47 in 1982 and fully fleshed out by Filmation in 1983, giving He-Man a royal alter-ego clad in pink and purple who feigned laziness to protect his loved ones.
In 1990's The New Adventures of He-Man, Adam underwent a significant shift when he revealed his dual identity to his parents before traveling into the future to protect the planet Primus, sporting a younger, space-age look. The 2002 animated reboot magnified the physical contrast between the two identities, redesigning Adam as a slender, teenage prince whose transformation into the massive He-Man was visually dramatic. Recent Netflix series like Revelation (2021) and Revolution (2024) matured Adam further, exploring his journey through the afterlife of Preternia, his return to Eternia, and his struggle with royal succession following the death of King Randor.
Da Collezione
As one half of the most famous hero alter-ego in 1980s pop culture, Prince Adam action figures hold a cherished place among Masters of the Universe collectors. Although absent from the initial 1981 launch wave, Mattel soon introduced Adam figures packaged with minicomics as the character gained fame through the Filmation animated series.
Major figure lines produced by Mattel include the 2002 action figure series, which sculpted Adam in his younger, slimmer redesign, and the modern MOTU Origins Cartoon Collection. The Origins line faithfully recreates Prince Adam's classic 1980s animation appearance, complete with his signature pink vest, purple tights, and Power Sword. Collectors actively seek out Adam figures to display side-by-side with He-Man and his cowardly companion Cringer.
