Cronologia
Biografia

Abner Krill, known by the supervillain monikers Polka-Dot Man and Mister Polka-Dot, is a Gotham City criminal created by writer Bill Finger and artist Sheldon Moldoff.
Driven by a desire to prove his intellectual superiority during Gotham's early superhero era, Krill devised a costume covered in high-tech polka dots that transformed into various weapons and vehicles, launching a crime spree aimed at drawing Batman's attention.
Over the course of his criminal career, Krill spiraled into poverty and obscure street crime, repeatedly getting beaten up in Gotham dive bars. He later joined villain groups like General Immortus's Army of the Endangered and Amanda Waller's Task Force X (Suicide Squad). In modern adaptations, such as James Gunn's 2021 film The Suicide Squad, Krill is depicted as a tragic metahuman afflicted with an interdimensional disease, balancing his absurd gimmick with deep psychological trauma.
Storia

Polka-Dot Man made his debut in Detective Comics #300 (February 1962) in the story 'The Bizarre Polka-Dot Man!' Inspired by the rise of costumed heroes in Gotham City, Abner Krill designed a specialized white costume adorned with weaponized spots.
To demonstrate his master criminal intellect, he orchestrated a crime spree and managed to kidnap Robin (Dick Grayson) using his array of dot-gadgets before being outsmarted and apprehended by Batman.
In the DC Extended Universe continuity, Krill's origins are tied to severe familial trauma. His mother, a scientist at S.T.A.R. Labs, deliberately exposed Abner and his siblings to an interdimensional virus in a horrific experiment to force them to develop super-abilities. This left Krill infected with glowing metahuman boils and burdened with severe psychological scars related to his mother.

Evoluzione
Polka-Dot Man's journey through DC Comics history is a classic trajectory from Silver Age gimmick to modern cult favorite. Emerging in 1962 as Mister Polka-Dot, Krill represented the era's trend of themed villains boasting quirky technology designed to challenge Batman.
However, as decades passed, his high-tech gimmick aged poorly, leading the character into obscure street crime, public embarrassments, and a brutal off-screen demise under a runaway manhole cover in 2009's Final Crisis Aftermath: Run!. The character's standing shifted dramatically in 2021 when director James Gunn adapted him for the live-action film The Suicide Squad. Portrayed by David Dastmalchian as an empathetic, deeply traumatized metahuman, Polka-Dot Man became a breakout fan favorite. This cinematic success brought him back into mainstream collector interest, animated series cameos, and new comic anthology features.
Da Collezione
Following his cinematic debut in 2021's The Suicide Squad, Polka-Dot Man transitioned from an obscure comic footnote into a popular subject for toy manufacturers and figure collectors. His newfound breakout status prompted official releases across prominent collectible lines.
McFarlane Toys produced an action figure of Abner Krill as part of their 7-inch scale DC Multiverse line in the King Shark Build-A-Figure wave. In addition to realistic action figures, the character has been produced in stylized formats, including official Funko Pop! vinyl figures and LEGO minifigures based on his appearances in animated films and video games.
