Biografia

In DC Comics, Omega is most famously the dark persona adopted by Bruce Wayne in Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's 'Batman: Last Knight on Earth'. Following a catastrophic world event where humanity was tricked by Lex Luthor into destroying all Earth's superheroes, Bruce Wayne abandoned his Batman identity and moral code.

Rebirthing himself as Omega, he took over Earth and ruled as an absolute dictator from Wayne Tower. Omega enforces total subjugation over the surviving human population using mental mind-control signals broadcast across the planet. To solidify his rule and eliminate resistance, he confronted the New God Darkseid, defeated him, severed his head, and bound himself directly to the Anti-Life Equation.

Believing that free will only leads humanity to self-destruction, Omega views his totalitarian reign as the ultimate form of protection. Beyond Bruce Wayne's alternate future identity, the name Omega recurs throughout DC lore as a cosmic representation of absolute entropy and dark power. These include the manifestation of universal hate fought by the Legion of Super-Heroes, the deadly Omega Beams of Apokolips, the galactic insurgents known as the Omega Men, and Lex Luthor claiming the cosmic title of King Omega.

LO SAPEVI?In Batman: Last Knight on Earth, Omega carries the severed head of Darkseid to control the Anti-Life Equation.

Storia

The origins of the character Omega stem from the tragic downfall of Earth's heroic age in 'Batman: Last Knight on Earth'. Lex Luthor presented humanity with a choice between heroics and villainy, and the populace tragically chose villainy, turning on the Justice League and destroying society.

Broken by the betrayal of the people he swore to protect, Bruce Wayne came to believe that Batman's ideals of hope and justice were fundamentally flawed. Determined to impose absolute order, Bruce abandoned his no-kill policy and former heroic persona.

He attacked Darkseid, decapped the tyrant of Apokolips, and seized the power of the Anti-Life Equation. Equipping himself with massive spiked armor, he crowned himself Omega and converted Wayne Tower into a high-tech fortress. From there, he locked down Earth under total mind control until he was eventually challenged by a younger Bruce Wayne clone created through a secret contingency protocol.

Evoluzione

The concept of 'Omega' in DC Comics began in 1971 with Jack Kirby's creation of the Omega Effect, representing the ultimate cosmic energy of disintegration used by Darkseid. By 1979, the name was applied to a physical villain entity in 'Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes', personifying cosmic hate. In 1981, it evolved into a force of galactic rebellion with the introduction of 'The Omega Men', who fought against oppressive cosmic empires.

A major reimagining occurred in 2019 when Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo transformed Omega into a specific character identity—a fallen, tyrannical version of Bruce Wayne in 'Batman: Last Knight on Earth'. This version shifted the concept from cosmic abstraction into a tragic character study of Batman relinquishing his ethics for totalitarian control. The title evolved once again in 2026's 'DC K.O.' crossover event, where Lex Luthor defeated Superman to take on the reality-warping title of 'King Omega'.

Da Collezione

For action figure collectors, Omega's heavily armored appearance from 'Batman: Last Knight on Earth' offers one of the most unique and striking villain designs in modern DC Black Label history. In 2021, McFarlane Toys officially brought this character to physical form in their 7-inch DC Multiverse action figure line. The figure features detailed suit texturing, metallic paint accents, and his signature spiked pauldrons.

A key highlight for collectors is that the Omega figure was released as part of a 'Collect-to-Build' (Build-A-Figure) wave for 'Batman: Last Knight on Earth'. Collecting Omega alongside the rest of the wave allows fans to build a massive Bane figure while securing accessories like Darkseid's severed head lantern. Due to its unique dark Bat-family design and association with Greg Capullo's artwork, the figure remains a highly sought-after piece for alternate-reality Batman displays.
