Cronologia
Biografia
Okoye is a master Wakandan warrior, General of the Dora Milaje, and one of King T'Challa's most trusted advisors and bodyguards. Hailing from Wakanda, she leads the ceremonial and elite military guard tasked with defending the monarch and the sovereign nation.
Beyond her traditional duties in Wakanda, Okoye was appointed as the Field Director of the Agents of Wakanda—a secret global intelligence agency established by T'Challa to provide support for the Avengers.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portrayed by Danai Gurira, Okoye commands Wakanda's armed forces through major global conflicts. She fights in the Battle of Wakanda against Thanos's forces, helps maintain global order during the Blip alongside Natasha Romanoff's coalition, and adopts advanced Midnight Angel Vibranium exo-armor during the war with Talokan. In alternate realities such as Earth-6160's Ultimate Universe, her leadership reaches its peak as she reigns as Queen of Wakanda alongside T'Challa.
Storia
Created by writer Christopher Priest and artist Mark Texeira, Okoye made her comic book debut in Black Panther (vol. 3) #1 in September 1998.
Selected from her tribe at a very young age alongside her friend Nakia, she was trained to join the Dora Milaje, Wakanda's royal bodyguards and ceremonial 'wives-in-training.' While Nakia developed an obsessive attachment to King T'Challa that turned violent and led her to become the villain Malice, Okoye recognized and accepted T'Challa's view of them strictly as bodyguards.
Maintaining her fierce loyalty, Okoye remained a dedicated driver, bodyguard, and confidante to the king. When T'Challa suffered a brain aneurysm and went into hiding in New York City, Okoye accompanied him. During this period, she assisted in testing urban vigilante Kasper Cole to see if he was worthy of using the Black Panther garb before returning to full-time Wakandan duties.

Originally portrayed as a quiet, disciplined counterweight to Nakia's downfall, her character was expanded in Ta-Nehisi Coates' *World of Wakanda* and brought back into main comic continuity following her breakthrough MCU debut in 2018.
Her operational scope broadened significantly when King T'Challa appointed her Field Director of the Agents of Wakanda, placing her at the helm of a global intelligence network supporting the Avengers. On screen, her path shifted from traditional General of the Dora Milaje to high-tech operative when she adopted the Midnight Angel exo-suit in *Black Panther: Wakanda Forever*. In the 2024 *Ultimate Black Panther* universe (Earth-6160), her growth reached its pinnacle as she transitioned from military officer to High Mentor and reigning Queen of Wakanda.
