Cronologia
Biografia
Groot is a Flora colossus from Planet X, the capital of the Branchworlds, created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and Jack Kirby, and later reimagined as a heroic cosmic defender by Keith Giffen.
Composed entirely of dense wood with a tough bark hide, Groot serves as the powerhouse and emotional heart of the Guardians of the Galaxy alongside his closest partner Rocket Raccoon, Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, and Mantis.
Despite being restricted to speaking only the phrase "I am Groot" due to hardened vocal cords, Groot possesses a genius-level intellect and profound empathy. Those who spend significant time with him learn to interpret the complex inflections and meaning behind his words. Throughout his cosmic journeys, Groot has consistently laid down his life to shield his teammates, regrowing from tiny twigs to fight another day.
Storia
Groot was raised on Planet X by his parents and the Arbor Masters, receiving knowledge through photosynthesis as sunrise transmitted the generational consciousness of his ancestors.
Unlike other saplings who mistreated the planet's lower lifeforms, Groot befriended the oppressed "Maintenance Mammals" who serviced the mycelium engine rooms and root systems, campaigning for their rights and inspiring an Undergrowth Resistance.
Traumatized in his youth when the leviathan Furnax incinerated thousands of square kilometers of forest, Groot later ventured into the forbidden Deadwoods with saplings Tweeg and Gleef, where they were ambushed by the criminal Spoilers before being rescued by Kree Private Mar-Vell and Centaurian hunter Yondar. Decades later into adulthood, Groot was captured in Kree space and imprisoned. While jailed, he met Rocket Raccoon, who stood up for Groot against abusive guards. In return, Groot crafted a flower bed for Rocket, forging an everlasting friendship. The pair joined Star-Lord's covert ops unit during the Phalanx invasion, where Groot sacrificed his body by burning to near-extinction so his team could survive, regrowing from a single sprig and officially cementing his heroic path with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Evoluzione
Groot's evolution across comics and media represents one of the most drastic transformations in Marvel history. He debuted in 1960's *Tales to Astonish* #13 as a monstrous alien invader intent on capturing humans for experimentation before being defeated by termites. Decades later in 2007's *Annihilation: Conquest*, creators Keith Giffen and Dan Abnett reimagined Groot as a noble, heroic last-of-his-kind Flora colossus who bonded with Rocket Raccoon and sacrificed his life for his allies.
Physically, Groot's unique biology allows him to undergo continuous life cycles. Following physical destruction, he regenerates from small sprigs or twigs, leading to distinct growth stages including Baby Groot, Teen Groot, rebellious punk Groot, weaponized Alpha Groot, and massive King Groot. In the comics, he even transformed into a terrifying planetary-scale phenomenon named "Grootfall". His speech pattern has also evolved over time; while typically restricted to "I am Groot" due to hardened vocal structures, he briefly gained full third-person speech after being healed by the Gardener before returning to his signature phrase.
Da Collezione
Groot holds a unique place in collectible culture both within Marvel lore and among real-world fans. In comic history, his popularity was meta-textually featured during Mojo's reality broadcast, where Mojo advertised an exclusive 12-inch Build-A-Figure Groot toy set that required viewers to collect five individual figure packs across his show to assemble the complete character.
For real-world collectors and gamers, Groot's diverse evolutionary forms make him a premier character across figure lines. Interactive playable figures were produced for the *Disney Infinity 2.0* and *3.0* physical-digital platforms, while high-demand cosmetic skins in games like *Fortnite* and various action figures spanning Baby Groot, Teen Groot, and adult forms remain highly sought-after staples for fans of both cosmic Marvel comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
