GIZMO
Gizmo is a gentle, intelligent, and lovable Mogwai created by screenwriter Chris Columbus for the 1984 film Gremlins. Unlike most of his species who succumb to malice and transform into destructive Gremlins, Gizmo remains kind, resourceful, and deeply loyal to his human companions.
Cronologia
Biografia
Gizmo is a cute, white-and-brown furry creature known as a Mogwai (Cantonese for "devil" or "demon"). Characterized by his oversized fan-shaped ears, large brown eyes, and gentle disposition, Gizmo is remarkably affectionate compared to other Mogwai.
He belongs to the first generation of his species, making him exceptionally long-lived and completely devoid of hatred. He adheres strictly to the three golden rules of Mogwai care whenever possible: avoiding bright light, keeping away from water, and never eating food after midnight.
Throughout his history, Gizmo forms deep bonds with his human caretakers, first with ten-year-old Sam Wing in 1920s Shanghai and later with Billy Peltzer in Kingston Falls. Despite his small frame and sweet temperament, Gizmo possesses an extraordinary mechanical aptitude and learns rapidly from watching television—developing a love for cars ("Vroom-Vrooms") and action films. When rogue Mogwai or Gremlins cause chaos, Gizmo steps up as a brave defender, using toy sports cars and improvised weaponry to defeat dark leaders like Stripe and Mohawk.
Storia
According to Mogwai lore detailed in George Gipe's official 1984 film novelization, Gizmo's species was originally created on the planet Enz (also known as Eternity) by an extraterrestrial scientist named Mogturmen as gentle ambassadors of peace.
Due to unstable genetics, most Mogwai became mischievous and aggressive; Gizmo represents a rare minority Mogwai who retained his inherent gentleness. On Earth, Gizmo's origin story begins in ancient China.
As revealed in the animated series, Gizmo was living peacefully among singing Mogwai in a Chinese mountain until a vulture attack separated him from his home. After floating down a river, he was briefly captured by the Seven Brothers Circus before being rescued by young Sam Wing and his grandfather. Decades later, Gizmo lived in Mr. Wing's New York Chinatown antique shop until inventor Rand Peltzer purchased him as a Christmas gift for his son Billy, initiating the events in Kingston Falls.

Evoluzione
Gizmo's character arcs reflect a shift from an innocent, protected creature into a self-reliant hero. In his 1920s origins depicted in Secrets of the Mogwai and The Wild Batch, Gizmo relies heavily on young Sam Wing and Elle while coping with involuntary evil episodes and separation from his mountain home.
In the 1984 film Gremlins, Gizmo is sweet and timid, yet shows heroic initiative by driving a toy sports car to expose Stripe to sunlight. By 1990's Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Gizmo reaches his defining moment: tired of being bullied by Mohawk's batch, he watches Rambo: First Blood Part II, puts on a red headband, crafts a bow out of office supplies, and takes direct action. His modern appearances in LEGO Dimensions and MultiVersus embody this iconic 'Rambo Gizmo' persona.
