Cronologia
Biografia

Ghost Rider is a supernatural agent indwelled by a Spirit of Vengeance who mounts a hellish vehicle to bring justice to evil forces. Stunt motorcyclist and performer Johnny Blaze became the modern Ghost Rider after striking a pact with the demon-lord Mephisto (initially named Satan) to cure his surrogate father's terminal cancer. The deal bound Blaze's soul to the hellish demon Zarathos, forever entwining his destiny with supernatural battles and hellish dimensions.
Over time, the mantle passed to and was shared by several other individuals. Johnny's long-lost younger brother, Danny Ketch, became a new Ghost Rider upon touching a mystical motorcycle emblem that bonded him with Noble Kale. Later, Nicaraguan operative Alejandra Jones briefly took over the powers under Blaze's tutelage.
In East Los Angeles, orphan mechanic Robbie Reyes became bonded with the corrupting spirit of his deceased uncle Eli Morrow, driving a fiery 1969 Dodge Charger known as the Hell Charger and eventually joining the Avengers. Spirits of Vengeance have indwelled hosts across historical eras and realities—ranging from the Ghost Rider of 1,000,000 BC and 19th-century Native American Sorcerer Supreme Kushala to an alternate Frank Castle operating as Cosmic Ghost Rider. Recently, villain Parker Robbins (The Hood) temporarily stole the Spirit of Vengeance from Johnny Blaze, while Danny's sister Barbara Ketch surfaced as the Spirit of Violence.
Storia

The original name 'Ghost Rider' belonged to a Western character created in 1949 by Ray Krank and Dick Ayers for Magazine Enterprises. Marvel adapted this Western vigilante in 1967 with Carter Slade, who dressed in glowing white robes.
Following the creation of Marvel's supernatural motorcycle anti-hero, Slade was retroactively renamed the Phantom Rider. The modern supernatural Ghost Rider was created by Roy Thomas, Gary Friedrich, and Mike Ploog, debuting in Marvel Spotlight #5 in August 1972. Johnny Blaze starred in Ghost Rider (vol.
2) from 1973 to 1983, navigating his curse with Zarathos. In May 1990, writer Howard Mackie and artist Javier Saltares launched Ghost Rider (vol. 3) starring Danny Ketch, introducing long-standing franchise hallmarks including the Penance Stare, spiked leather jacket, and mystical chain weapon. The legacy expanded further with Ghost Rider 2099 (1994), Alejandra Jones (2011), Robbie Reyes (2014), Kushala (2016), and Cosmic Ghost Rider (2017).

Evoluzione
Ghost Rider's visual and thematic identity has undergone continuous evolution since his creation. The moniker began in 1949 as a Western vigilante riding a horse, later renamed Phantom Rider. In 1972, Marvel transformed the concept into a supernatural anti-hero with Johnny Blaze, tapping into 1970s motorcycle stunt culture and occult horror themes. The 1990s brought a major modernization through Danny Ketch.
This era redefined the Ghost Rider aesthetic by introducing the iconic spiked leather jacket, long heavy chains, glowing wheels, and the Penance Stare. In 2014, Robbie Reyes broadened the character's scope beyond motorcycles by introducing the 'Hell Charger' muscle car and grounding the story in East Los Angeles street culture. Marvel has since turned Ghost Rider into a legacy concept spanning diverse times and realms. Variations now include prehistoric riders, futuristic cyberpunk cyborgs (Ghost Rider 2099), Native American Sorcerers Supreme (Kushala), and cosmic entities (Cosmic Ghost Rider). Most recently, storylines expanded the lore to include new dark entities like the Spirit of Violence.
