Cronologia
Biografia
Remy Etienne LeBeau, created by writer Chris Claremont and artist Jim Lee (with early art by Mike Collins), made his debut in The Uncanny X-Men Annual #14 and The Uncanny X-Men #266 in 1990. Originating from New Orleans, Remy was raised within the Thieves Guild and trained as a master thief.
He first encountered the X-Men after saving a de-aged and amnesiac Storm in Cairo, Illinois, assisting her as a fellow thief before she sponsored his membership into the X-Men. Known for his Cajun charm, trenchcoat, kinetic playing cards, and bo staff, Gambit quickly became a core member of Cyclops's X-Men "Blue Team" in the 1990s.
Over the years, he has served as a heroic mutant defender, an occasional mercenary, and a central figure in major mutant events. Despite his dark past, Gambit has consistently proven his devotion to the mutant cause and his fellow heroes. Central to his life story is his long-standing romance with Rogue (Anna Marie LeBeau). Despite the challenge posed by her power-draining touch, their relationship endured decades of hardships, culminating in their marriage in X-Men Gold #30 (2018) and co-starring in their own ongoing comic series Mr. and Mrs. X.
Storia
Abandoned at birth in New Orleans due to his terrifying red sclera and black eyes, the child was taken in by the LeBeau Clan of the New Orleans Thieves Guild and formally adopted by Jean-Luc LeBeau. Raised in the shadow of the city's criminal underworld, Remy was trained to become a master thief and acrobat.
In an attempt to broker peace between the rival Thieves Guild and Assassins Guild, Remy married Bella Donna Boudreaux, the granddaughter of the Assassins Guild leader. However, the union ended in tragedy when Remy was forced to kill Bella Donna's brother, Julien, in a duel of self-defense, resulting in his immediate exile from New Orleans.
Struggling to control his overwhelming kinetic powers, Gambit sought out the master geneticist Mister Sinister (Nathaniel Essex). Sinister surgically removed a portion of Gambit's brain stem to stabilize his kinetic energy. In exchange, Gambit assembled a mercenary squad known as the Marauders. Unbeknownst to Gambit, Sinister dispatched the Marauders to slaughter the Morlocks in the infamous Mutant Massacre. Stricken with guilt, Gambit saved a young Morlock girl named Sarah (later Marrow) and severed his ties with Sinister.

Evoluzione
Introduced in 1990 as an enigmatic Cajun thief paired with Storm, Gambit quickly evolved into a 1990s pop-culture icon through his leading role on Cyclops's Blue Team and his popular animated series depiction. His tragic back-story and involvement in the Morlock Massacre were exposed in 1997's *Trial of Gambit*, shifting his narrative arc from anti-hero mystery to a journey of redemption. Throughout the 2000s, Gambit underwent dramatic character trials.
He temporarily lost his kinetic powers during the *X-Treme X-Men* storyline and later made a tragic sacrifice by surrendering to Apocalypse, becoming the Horseman of Death in 2006 before being restored by Professor Xavier. In recent eras, Gambit achieved personal stability by marrying Rogue in 2018 (*Mr. and Mrs. X*). During the Krakoan age (2019–2022), he joined Excalibur and ventured into magical realms, later defending surviving mutants during the *Fall of X* (2023). In 2024's *Uncanny X-Men* Vol. 6, he relocated to an estate in Louisiana with Rogue, while 2026's *Gambit: Gone* introduced two distinct versions of Remy LeBeau operating concurrently in the Marvel Universe.
