Biografia

Victor von Doom, sovereign monarch of Latveria, is one of the most dangerous intelligence and magical forces in the Marvel Universe.

Believing that absolute supreme control is the only key to world peace and prosperity, Doom operates from his ancestral throne in Latveria, blending futuristic technology with ancient sorcery.

He views himself above all hero institutions, maintaining an intense personal rivalry with Reed Richards and the Fantastic Four. In alternate continuities like Earth-1610, Victor Van Damme was brought to the Baxter Building government think-tank as a youth. Altering Reed Richards' interdimensional portal calculations, he was caught in the resulting N-Zone accident that transformed his flesh into a living regenerative metallic organism. Regardless of the reality, Doctor Doom remains an unyielding strategist, scientist supreme, and constant threat to cosmic order.

LO SAPEVI?In the Ultimate universe (Earth-1610), Victor Van Damme was the one who entered Reed Richards' room without permission to alter his calculations, reversing their Earth-616 origin interaction.

Storia

Born in Latveria to Werner, a Romani herbalist, and Cynthia, a powerful sorceress whose soul was trapped by Mephisto, Victor von Doom's youth was steeped in tragic loss and occult mystery. Determined to free his mother's soul, Victor mastered both magic and science, eventually earning a scholarship to university in the United States. There, he met Reed Richards.

When Victor constructed a device to bridge dimension to communicate with the dead, he ignored Richards' warnings about flawed math. The resulting explosion disfigured his face. Blaming Richards, Victor forged a suit of powered armor and an iron mask, returning home to conquer Latveria. In Earth-1610, Victor Van Damme claimed bloodline descent from Vlad Tepes Dracula.

At twelve years old, he joined the Baxter Building think-tank alongside Richards and Susan Storm. Tampering with the N-Zone experiment, Victor was transformed into living metal with clawed hands and hooves. He briefly governed a Copenhagen commune called 'The Keep' using mind-controlling dragon tattoos before turning Latveria into the ninth-richest country on Earth.

LO SAPEVI?Doctor Doom's Future Foundation prisoner number is 5-7-62, referencing July 1962 (Fantastic Four #5), the cover-date of his first appearance.

Evoluzione

Since his debut in 1962 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Doctor Doom has transformed from a standard comic book ruler into one of Marvel's most multi-faceted characters. Initially seeking revenge against Reed Richards, his scope expanded rapidly as he stole the Silver Surfer's Power Cosmic and usurped the omnipotent Beyonder in 1984's Secret Wars. Landmark stories like Triumph and Torment deepened his internal code of honor and personal vulnerability regarding his mother's soul.

In modern publishing, Doom reached supreme authority in Jonathan Hickman's 2015 Secret Wars, creating Battleworld from a collapsing multiverse as God Emperor Doom. Following reality's restoration, he underwent a rare heroic turn in Infamous Iron Man (2016), donning Iron Man's armor to seek redemption. With alternative variants like Earth-1610's metallic Victor Van Damme and his upcoming cinematic role portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., Doctor Doom continues to represent the ultimate synthesis of intellect, tragedy, and unmatched ambition.

LO SAPEVI?Robert Downey Jr., who launched the MCU as Iron Man, returns to Marvel Studios to portray Victor von Doom in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Avengers: Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret Wars.
