DARK ANGELS INTERCESSOR
A Dark Angels Intercessor is a Primaris Space Marine rank serving as the Battleline backbone within the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Greenwing Companies of the Dark Angels Chapter. Clad in Mark X Tacticus power armor and armed with bolt rifles, these transhuman soldiers combine Belisarius Cawl's modern genetic enhancements with the ancient, knightly traditions of the Imperium's First Legion. They perform crucial tactical roles on the battlefield, securing vital objectives while standing guard over their Chapter's dark ten-millennium-old secrets.
Cronologia
Biografia
Dark Angels Intercessors serve as the essential Battleline troops of the Unforgiven, stationed primarily within the Chapter's 3rd, 4th, and 5th Greenwing Companies.
Engineered as part of Archmagos Belisarius Cawl's Ultima Founding, these transhuman Primaris Space Marines are equipped with Mark X Tacticus power armor and trained to deliver disciplined, long-range fire.
Their primary tactical duty is to hold critical tactical objectives and form a resilient defensive wall behind which specialist formations operate. Upon their arrival, Dark Angels Intercessors were initially met with deep suspicion by their Firstborn brethren, who kept them excluded from the Inner Circle and the secret history of the Fallen. Over time, through relentless devotion in campaigns across the galaxy, Intercessors proved their loyalty. They now fight under the leadership of veteran officers like Master Lazarus—the first hero to cross the Rubicon Primaris—and under the personal command of their resurrected Primarch, Lion El'Jonson.
Storia
The heritage of the Dark Angels Intercessor stems directly from the First Legion of Space Marines, created on Terra as the template for all Legiones Astartes.
As the Emperor's original 'Angels of Death,' the Legion purged the Thunder Warriors at Mount Ararat, fought through the catastrophic Rangdan Xenocides, and absorbed the warrior codes of Caliban after reuniting with Primarch Lion El'Jonson.
For ten thousand years following the Horus Heresy, the Chapter organized its line infantry into Firstborn Tactical Squads while guarding the secret betrayal of the Fallen. This millennia-old structure was transformed in the late 41st Millennium during the Ultima Founding. Archmagos Belisarius Cawl revealed the Primaris Space Marines, introducing the Intercessor rank to the Dark Angels. Assigned to the Greenwing, these new warriors had to prove themselves worthy of the Chapter's secretive legacy while adapting ancient martial codes to their advanced armor and weaponry.

Evoluzione
The concept of line infantry in the Dark Angels has evolved significantly since the Chapter's introduction in *Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader* (1987). Originally depicted in black power armor before transitioning to forest green in the 1990s, the Chapter's core troops were strictly Firstborn Tactical Squads for decades. The Intercessor rank did not exist in Warhammer lore until 2017's 8th Edition with Belisarius Cawl's Ultima Founding.
In lore, Intercessors evolved from outsiders viewed with suspicion by Firstborn commanders in novels like *War of Secrets* (2018) to fully trusted battleline veterans. This integration reached key milestones when Master Lazarus became the first Dark Angels captain to cross the Rubicon Primaris (*War Zone Charadon*, 2021) and when Primarch Lion El'Jonson returned (*The Lion: Son of the Forest*, 2023) to unite Primaris Intercessors with ancient redeemed warriors known as 'The Risen'.
Da Collezione
Dark Angels Intercessors are prominent subjects across tabletop miniatures and action figures. Games Workshop produces the core multi-part Primaris Intercessor kit, which can be customized using official Dark Angels upgrade sprues featuring chapter shoulder pads, tilting shields, and relic icons.
In 2025, Games Workshop expanded this line with the blind-box *Kill Team: Strike Force Variel*, offering specific named Intercessor miniatures like Zeradim and Maphael. In action figures, McFarlane Toys produced 7-inch scale Dark Angels Primaris Intercessors between 2021 and 2023, releasing both fully painted figures and unpainted 'Artist Proof' editions. For premium 1/18 scale articulated figures, JoyToy produces detailed Dark Angels Intercessors, Heavy Intercessors, and Assault Intercessors equipped with bolt rifles and chainswords, continuing into 2026 with Game Edition variants.
Curiosità
• The prototype Space Marines of the Ist Legion were tested on Terra over a century before the Unification Wars ended under the code name 'Primordial Strain'.
• When Primaris Intercessors were first assigned to the Dark Angels, Firstborn commanders withheld the Chapter's true history regarding the Fallen from them. • Master Lazarus was the very first Dark Angels hero to cross the Rubicon Primaris after suffering mortal wounds in combat. • Imperial records indicate the Ist Legion personally carried out the culling of surviving Thunder Warriors at Mount Ararat.
