Biografia

Bumblebee (designation B-127) is a core Autobot hero in the Transformers franchise, originally created by writer Bob Budiansky and Hasbro in 1984.

Physically smaller and weaker than many Cybertronians, Bumblebee functions as a brave Autobot scout who acts as the human-sympathetic 'everyman' and 'little brother' of the team.

Throughout his history, he forms deep, protective bonds with human companions such as Spike Witwicky, Sam Witwicky, Charlie Watson, and Raf Esquivel. In various continuities such as Transformers: Prime, Bumblebee serves under Optimus Prime as part of Team Prime alongside allies like Arcee, Ratchet, and Bulkhead. Despite losing his voice box to Megatron during the Great War on Cybertron, Bumblebee remains fiercely loyal and resourceful, communicating through electronic beeps, tones, or radio broadcasts to safeguard humanity and his fellow Autobots.

LO SAPEVI?Bumblebee was created in 1984 by Bob Budiansky and Hasbro as the 'little brother' and human-sympathetic 'everyman' of the Autobots.

Storia

Bumblebee was born on Cybertron as part of the last generation created from the Well of Allsparks before it ceased producing life. During the Great War, he joined the Autobots to fight alongside Optimus Prime.

As a young scout, he attempted to arrest the Decepticon spy Overload and later endured capture by Decepticon forces at Tyger Pax. During a brutal interrogation, Bumblebee valiantly refused to reveal information to Megatron, leading the Decepticon leader to destroy his voice box and leave him for dead.

Rescued by Autobot troops, field medic Ratchet stabilized him, though he remained rendered mute. Following the war, which left Cybertron uninhabitable, Bumblebee joined Team Prime on The Ark and traveled the galaxy for thousands of years until reaching Earth. In origin continuities like Transformers One, B-127 started as a chatterbox waste management worker on Cybertron alongside Orion Pax (Optimus Prime) and D-16 (Megatron) before rising to become one of Earth's primary Autobot defenders.

LO SAPEVI?During the war on Cybertron, Megatron destroyed Bumblebee's voice box at Tyger Pax after the brave scout refused to yield information under interrogation.

Evoluzione

Since his 1984 debut as a humble yellow Volkswagen Beetle in The Transformers (G1), Bumblebee has undergone dramatic evolutions across toys, animation, comics, and live-action cinema. Initially defined as an underdog scout and human companion, his G1 storyline saw him upgraded into the mature Autobot leader Goldbug. Over the decades, his physical form evolved from compact economy cars into high-performance muscle cars, most notably the iconic Chevrolet Camaro introduced in Michael Bay's 2007 film.

Narratively, Bumblebee shifted from a talkative young scout to a silent warrior who communicates through radio chatter or synthesized tones after losing his vocal processor to Megatron. This vocal loss became a defining character trait across Transformers: Prime and live-action films like 2018's Bumblebee. Recent iterations continue to redefine him, from an amnesiac hero in Cyberverse and neutral mercenary in War for Cybertron, to a veteran mentor in EarthSpark, a chatterbox origin worker B-127 in 2024's Transformers One, and even a shocking early victim of Starscream in Skybound's Energon Universe comics.

Da Collezione

First created by Hasbro in 1984 alongside writer Bob Budiansky, Bumblebee is one of the most prolific characters in toy and collectible history. Originating as a compact G1 yellow Volkswagen Beetle action figure, Bumblebee's physical collectible legacy expanded exponentially with his transformation into a Chevrolet Camaro for the 2007 live-action film franchise.

Hasbro has continually re-imagined the character across decades of toy lines, ranging from his upgraded Goldbug personas to various cinematic vehicle iterations like the 1967, 1977, and 2014 Camaros, off-road variants, and animated incarnations. In addition to traditional action figures, Bumblebee collectibles span interactive video game releases, comic compilations, and fan-supported releases such as Skybound's crowdfunded Compendium Sets reprinting classic G1 and Marvel storylines. Whether fans seek nostalgia through G1 VW Beetle figures or modern movie-accurate models, Bumblebee remains a central centerpiece for Transformers collectors worldwide.
