Star Wars

Following the assassination of Snoke, Kylo Ren ascended to the title of Supreme Leader, claiming absolute authority over the First Order. This version of the character represents the peak of his military and dark side power as he sought to excise his family's past and secure his place as the ultimate controller of the galaxy.

La Scena

The specific moment defining this appearance occurs in the throne room of the Mega-class Star Dreadnought, the Supremacy. While Supreme Leader Snoke mocks Rey and commands her execution, Kylo Ren manipulates the Force to activate the Skywalker lightsaber resting on Snoke's armrest. With a sharp ignite, the blade pierces Snoke's torso, bisecting him. Immediately following the brutal skirmish with the Praetorian Guards, Kylo Ren confronts General Hux. As Hux hesitates to acknowledge the transition of power, Ren utilizes a Force-choke to drop the General to his knees, forcing him to gasp out the words: 'Long live the Supreme Leader.' This transition is finalized on the Finalizer flagship, where Ren formally introduces himself to the assembled Stormtrooper Corps, revealing Snoke's corpse before casting it out into space to symbolize the end of the old regime and the dawn of a new, glorious era under his absolute command.

Significato

This transformation represents the definitive break from Kylo Ren’s role as an apprentice to that of a master. By claiming the title of Supreme Leader, he fulfills the ambition his grandfather, Darth Vader, never quite achieved: the total control of a galactic empire without a master to serve. In the Star Wars narrative, this period illustrates the chaos of a leader driven by internal conflict rather than the cold calculation of his predecessors. While Snoke focused on spiritual matters and the Force, Kylo Ren’s reign is characterized by aggressive expansion, the pursuit of dark Force secrets, and a ruthless campaign to 'kill the past.' It marks the transition of the First Order from a shadow remnant of the Empire into a regime that attempted to surpass its predecessor's legacy by enforcing absolute loyalty through fear and the erasure of traditional neutralities, as seen in his massacres on worlds like Tah'Nuhna.

Design

The 'Supreme Leader' aesthetic is most iconically represented by the 'Reforged' mask introduced during his one-year reign. After smashing his original helmet in a fit of rage, Ren has it painstakingly reconstructed. The shattered pieces are held together by a red crystalline substance, likely sathari or Sith-infused alchemy, creating glowing red veins that run across the mask's surface like scars. This 'Kintsugi' style design symbolizes his fractured psyche and the violent nature of his rule. He wears heavily textured, layered black robes and a long, flowing black cape that fastens at the shoulders, providing a more regal and intimidating silhouette than his previous commander outfits. His signature crossguard lightsaber remains his primary weapon, its unstable, crackling red blade serving as a visual metaphor for the volatile energy of his leadership and his refusal to find balance.
