Piccolo is a tall, muscular Namekian from the Dragon Ball franchise who evolves from Goku's vengeful arch-nemesis into one of Earth's most trusted martial artists and Gohan's dedicated mentor. Recognized by his green skin, pointy ears, white weighted turban, white cape, and dark purple gi, he represents a unique balance of stern stoicism, sharp tactical wisdom, and fierce protective instincts. Across decades of manga, anime, films, and video games, Piccolo's distinct aesthetic and iconic transformations—including his recent Orange Piccolo form—make him a central figure for Dragon Ball collectors worldwide.

La Scena

La Scena

Piccolo first appears as Piccolo Jr., the reincarnated son of King Piccolo, entering the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament to avenge his father and defeat Goku. In their grueling championship battle, he demonstrates terrifying power and sadistically breaks Goku's limbs before suffering a narrow loss. However, his defining scene occurs during the Saiyan arc when he reluctantly allies with Goku against Raditz and takes responsibility for training Goku's son, Gohan. Facing the lethal threat of Nappa, Piccolo willingly leaps into the path of a destructive energy beam to protect Gohan, sacrificing his life and completing his transformation from a demon king's heir into a selfless protector.

Significato

Significato

Piccolo's transition from an antagonist driven by world domination to a key defender of Earth is one of the most significant narrative arcs in the Dragon Ball mythos. His bond with Gohan humanizes his character, proving that compassion can overcome inherited evil and earning him the deep respect of Kami, Mr. Popo, and the Z Fighters. Furthermore, his character serves as the gateway to the series' broader cosmic scope, revealing his alien Namekian roots and introducing Namekian fusion—assimilating with Nail on Planet Namek and re-merging with Kami during the Android Saga to vastly amplify his combat power.

Design

Design

Piccolo is a tall Namekian featuring green skin, pointed ears, sharp facial contours, and segmented skin patches with thin black lines and red borders, colored pink in the classic anime and yellow in the original manga, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, and Dragon Ball Daima. In the manga, he possesses four fingers with black nails, whereas the anime adaptation gives him five fingers with white nails. His signature combat attire consists of a dark violet gi with a broad neckline, pointy orange shoes, and a sky-blue obi (red in the manga and movies). He routinely trains in weighted gear, wearing a white cape over concealed shoulder padding alongside a matching white turban with a dark purple-blue top. In modern appearances such as Super Hero, his gi features a brighter purple shade, olive-brown shoes, a red obi, and an alternate Red Ribbon Army soldier uniform bearing the number 94. His ultimate form, Orange Piccolo, dramatically alters his appearance into a heavily bulked physique with bright orange skin, a pronounced brow, and glowing red eyes.
